BFT - 269 Choake vs Small Review

Middleweight - The former BFT Lightweight Title Challenger and outstandingly 43 BFT Fight vet Keiji "Mach" Numa submit the former BFT Middleweight Champion and astonishingly 42 BFT fight vet Damian "Dima" Nitschke with a triangle choke with 5 seconds remaining in round 1 to get his first victory over Damian in the trilogy.

Nitschke started off really agressive on the feet and was looking to finish things at the distance. But Numa was on the ball and was able to dodge everything that Nitschke had. Numa then went to take things to the mat, but Nitschke was able to flip things over and get to a dominant position. From there Nitschke was able to land some successful shots. But Numa kept throwing up submissions until something stuck. Nitschke looked like he was on his way to a successful round victory. But Numa was throwing up his legs for a triangle choake, but it was pretty loose. Numa locked things in and pulled on Nitschke's head like there was no tomorrow. Nitschke was forced to tap out.

Light Heavyweight - The former BFC Middleweight Champion Trinidad Suarez knocked out 19-fight BFT veteran Forrest Gryphen with strikes in the last second of the second round.

Suarez started things off by going right for a takedown. He was able to get it and really showed Gryphen why he didn't want that to happen. Gryphen spend most of the round on his back as Suarez was raining down strikes like a bomber plane. Gryphen was doing his best to stay in it, but Suarez was reallying putting down some hurt on Gryphen. He made it to the second round, but Suarez wanted things back on the ground. The ground and pound continued to rain down from Suarez until the ref called it for Suarez.

Co-Main - Light Heavyweight - The Former U.H.F. Light Heavyweight Champion "The Thing" Enting Butikol KO'ed another former U.H.F. Light Heavyweight Champion Justin Jones with a punch at 2:13 in round 2 to set him 2-0 in their match-ups.

This one saw some quick clinch action where Butikol was throwing fast and furious, and was even able to cut Jones. Jones was able to get a takedown, but the ref stood them back up and Butikol was too agressive in the clinch and at the distance for Jones for the rest of the round. Even though Jones did get another takedown, he didn't do enough to let the ref keep them down. Against, what I would assume would have been, the advice of his corner, Jones brought the fight back into the clinch. Butikol was just destroying Jones with strike after strike until the ref was forced to stop the fight.

Main Event - Welterweight Title! - The former BFT Welterweight Champion "The Kraken" Jermaine Choake submit the former BFT Welterweight Title Challenger, going for his second attempt at the belt, and 5 time BFT Bonus Winner Pat Small with an armbar at 1:53 in round 3 to set their match-up at 2-0 in favor of Choake and to claim the BFT Welterweight Belt. With this, Choake became the first 2 time BFT Welterweight Champion and the 10th lineal champion.

Pat Small looked good in the first round. Even though Choake was able to get two takedowns and looked pretty impressive while he was on the mats, at the distance and in the clinch Pat Small was landing with some serious leather. The second round, however, seemed to take place mostly on the mats, much to the pleasure of "The Kraken." He was able to wrastle him down and really use that great jiu jitsu that he has. Overall, it seemed as though Choake had gotten his second wind in that round. The third round started pretty well for Small, as he was landing some nice strikes from the clinch again, but Choake was able to get the takedown again. This time he wasn't letting go. Even though he messed up on a leg lock and ended up on bottom, Choake never gave up and used that opportunity to try to get a triangle choake. When that wasn't working for him, he went ahead and changed it into an armbar that really had Small extended. It wasn't long before Small was in a gator roll and was tapping to get out of that thing. Choake manages to reclaim the title after a back and forth battle.
