WFL 10 Preview by Tony Rossi

Event Preview: WFL 10- Aunor vs Rostowski II
Warrior Fight League
2014-02-19, Helsinki, The Underground - Helsinki
Author:Josh James

  WFL-10 promises to be a great one, as we will feature a huge rematch. This will be no ordinary rematch as it will be once again for the WFL Featherweight Championship. We have surrounded this big rematch with some of your favorites from WFL as well as some promising new comers. Live from The Underground in Helsinki we present WFL-10 Aunor vs Rostowski II.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

#5 "The Warmaster" Wan Benming (1-1) {0-1} versus Mahamud "The Shadow Killer" Najib Osman (2-5) {0-0}

Benming lost his WFL debut and he is looking to make a big comeback in this fight. He is a Muay Thai striker who can pulverize his opponent with devastating kicks and punches. To my surprise his lone win came by submission but I do not think he will make a habit of it. Osman will be making his debut and he is kind of a jack of all trades fighter. He has done a great job spreading out his training to become a well-rounded fighter. Osman is seven years younger than his opponent and he will be giving up a few pounds in this fight as well so it will be an uphill battle for him. My prediction on this fight will be Wan Benming getting his first WFL win by TKO late in the second round.

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Rafael Gomez (1-0) {0-0} versus #5 Joshua "Savage" Swanson (4-4) {2-2}

Gomez has only had one fight in his short career and he was able to pick up a decision win. I don’t think that will be possible in this next fight has his opponent has had eight fights with only one of them reaching the third round and none of them going the distance. Gomez is a powerful fighter who is willing to mix it up anywhere in the cage, but I think his strong point is in the clinch. He has shown that he can work the body and that is something that usually comes with age. Swanson has been on a downfall as of late losing two strait. He showed up in the WFL with a two and two record and he quickly improved to four and two. Now he is back to five hundred and he wants to be on the winning side again. He will need to get the takedown and submission in this fight because Gomez will win anywhere else. I think Savage will pick up this win once it goes to the ground. I have him winning by submission in the second round.

Preliminary Fight Number 3- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Marcelo Aurelio (2-2) {1-2} versus Marcin "Gora" Waligora (1-0) {0-0}

Aurelio has been having a tough time since joining the WFL losing two of his three fights here. It should be somewhat reassuring that his loses have come to title contenders. The brown belt will be looking to get this fight to the ground so he can tie up Waligora with some sort of lock or hold, but that will be no easy task. Marcin is a wrestler and boxer and he should use his superior wrestling skills to keep this fight standing. If Marcelo can get the fight to the ground he will certainly win, but I think Waligora will stuff the takedowns and win by TKO in the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Lightweight Fight (155lb)

#4 "Yod" Yodthanong Photirat (5-15) {0-1} versus #5 Bokser Turniejowy (4-2) {0-0}

The MMA world has not been kind to Photirat at all with twenty fights under his belt he has only been able to win five of them. The twenty seven year old veteran is a skilled striker with training in both boxing and Muay Thai. All five of his wins have come by TKO or knockout so he does have a good stand up game. Bokser is also a standup fighter being highly decorated in boxing. It would seem as he does not have finishing power as all four of his wins have come by decision. These two warriors should be happy to stand in the middle of the cage and duke it out. I foresee Bosker winning if not by TKO due to his lackluster knockout power then by decision.

Main Card Bout Number 1- Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Greg "Rubishman" Joll (3-2) {1-2} versus Rsghrhr "Fdjfj" Hrjrgjsjs (3-0) {0-0}

Joll has run into some bad luck as of late dropping his last two fights. One was by decision and the other was a TKO loss. He luck just might turn around in this one even though his opponent is undefeated. Joll is a submission artist as he has a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Two of his three wins have come by submission and he look for a third win by tap out in this one. Rsghrhr is a wrestler who is looking to make his debut in WFL. You normally don’t think of a wrestler as being much of a finisher but two of Rsghrhr’s wins have come by submission. I don’t think he will be able to submit a purple belt and if the fight stays standing Joll should also dominate. I am going to pick Joll to win by submission in the second round.

Main Card Bout Number 2- Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

Tormund Giantsbane (13-7) {0-1} versus Mr Rouge (0-1) {0-1}

The world was Giantsbane’s oyster and then everything came to a screeching halt. He has lost his last three fights including his debut in Warrior Fight League. Clearly he will be looking to make some major improvements and get back to winning ways. He has a strong boxing game and when that fails he can go to the ground but he is by no means a typical grappler. Out of his thirteen wins he has ten wins by knockout and the other three have come by decision. Rouge has only had one fight in his career but do not count out this twenty seven year old just because of experience. He has been training for a long time, and he is looking to prove what he knows. He was knocked out late in the fight against Ramos but he was clearly winning the fight on the judges’ score cards. I think the only thing Rouge is missing is a little aggression. I believe that Rouge will come out a little more aggressive in this fight and win by submission in the second round.

Main Card Bout Number 3- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

"Vegas" Las Mambo (9-1) {0-0} versus Martin "The Mauler" Parlo (0-0) {0-0}

This is a massively important fight to Warrior Fight League. This will be the first ever fight for the WFL contested at middleweight. Once the WFL signed Mambo they knew it was time to open up the division and get the former GAMMA prospect some fights. Mambo is currently nine and one with seven wins by submission. Clearly he likes to show off his purple belt and he will be looking to win by submission again. Parlo has the daunting task of making his fighting debut against a seasoned veteran. I think Mambo is a better striker but standing up and banging is Parlo’s only chance of winning this fight. I think Mambo will make short work of Parlo and he will submit him in the first round.

Co Main Event Main Card Bout Number 4- Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

#3 Benny "The Slim" Hill (16-15) {1-1} versus Reinaldo "Animal" Aruba (6-2) {1-1}

Hill took on the champ in a losing effort in his last fight. He certainly wants to string together as many wins as possible to so he can get back to the promise land. Hill is more of a wrestler than anything else but he can finish a fight. No laying and praying for this guy as he is looking to knock out all of his opponents. He has won nine of his sixteen fights by TKO but he also knows a thing or two about submissions finishing four opponents by tap out. Aruba is also looking towards a future title shot and a win over the experienced Hill might just be what the doctor ordered. He is a former champion and he knows what is needed to win. If Hill wants to stand with him then he will need to find a way to get the fight to the ground but if Hill takes the fight to the mat Aruba will have a big advantage as he is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Half of Aruba’s wins have come by submission with the other half coming by decision. This is a hard fight to predict but I am going to go with Aruba to win by submission in the third round.

Main Event Main Card Bout Number 5- Featherweight Title Fight (145lbs)

C Terry Aunor (15-4) {3-0} versus #1 Andrzej "Litwin" Rostowski (13-15) {2-1}

Aunor is three and zero in the WFL and out of his three wins one includes a close decision victory over Andrzej "Litwin" Rostowski. The current WFL Featherweight Champion will be looking to score his second win over Rostowski but he will need to show us a little more than he did last time. Aunor is a well-rounded fighter who can stand and strike and he is great on the ground. Over half of his wins have come by decision so you know he knows how to fight for points. Rostowski is looking to avenge his loss and take home the prized Featherweight Title thus killing two birds with one stone. He had a great strategy in the last fight but he was too aggressive and he was tired by the time round three started. If he can have a very similar fight but tone down the aggression he could easily win by decision or possibly a submission. Since Aunor has already won a fight between these two I will pick him to win and I think it will be a decision again.

Nine exciting fights including a title fight, what more could you ask for. If you agree or disagree with any of this or just want to leave a message or call someone out please stop by or Smack Talk Thread located on the forums. This has been Tony Rossi with another WFL preview.
