Welcome back all fight fans, we had a lot of fun last weekend with 20 great fights. As you reserve your tickets for this weekend we want to shed some light on what summoned the event poster we have for Saturday night. Cynical Truth, our event sponsor always has the excellent clothes and threads to satisfy our troops here and in Las Vegas they will have excellent deals this weekend, stop by their tables and show some love.

Jesus Mendez vs Alex James

155lbs 180cm (27-15) – 212lbs 185cm (15-16)

Alex James comes into this fight with what HWP loves to enjoy, which is a 60lb+ weight difference between fighters. While he will look to exploit his height and weight advantage, he will also be battling his recent struggles as he dropped two fights in a row. Both fights not showing much heart in the heat of the moment. Jesus Mendez on the other hand feels as if the world is crashing down beside him. With a 27-15 record, he was comfortably sitting at a 27-8 record before his disasters began to unwind. Both fighters really need this fight and I think that Jesus, also known as “The Second Cumming” will fail to earn a win here as the bigger, stronger James will most likely take him down, HARD and stop the night as quickly as possible.

Russel Richards vs Vince Dixon

276lbs 193cm (11-0) – 276lbs 183cm (24-21)

Vince Dixon stopped by Checker’s (a burger joint) and ordered the “BACONATOR.” Loaded with bacon and meat patties I thought there was no chance for him to go into his fight with Lou Ferrigno and leave victorious. It just so happened that all of the extra fat he inhaled before the fight was just weight to allow him to hold Ferrigno to the cage and pound his soul away. He will look to do the same thing against Russel Richards but It will be a lot tougher this go around. As Russel Richards is undefeated and has shown that he is talented in the stand-up. Rocking faces in the clinch has been his specialty and he uses his powerful hands to wear ground fighters down with body shots until their hands are rendered worthless. This will be a great fight, fans look out!

Kent Phillips vs Josh Williams

265lbs 197cm (17-5) – 273lbs 205cm (25-16)

Josh Williams is a wrecking ball that sometimes gets wrecked. Firing on all cylinders, Williams always goes to war willing to eat a few shots to land a bomb. So far this crazy style has proven to be fairly effective as he has some signature KOs built up in his career. Meanwhile, Kent Phillips has come in being the “end-all” 6-0 All by knockout since joining Heavyweight Prize Fighting and has not struggled since. As he runs his way throughout the organization bashing skulls he has proven to be capable of knocking out just about anyone at any weight standing up, the true test would to be to see just what happens when someone gets him onto the ground and he finds himself in the guard. Unfortunately for Williams that wont be happening here, I see Phillips landing one devastating strike ending the night early for Williams.

Sunny Supernova vs Brian King

180lbs 183cm (36-12) – 267lbs 194cm (36-17-1)

When I found out I had been given the opportunity to cover this fight I was astounded to realize these two HWP superstars have never met in the cage before. The Bomber King defeated Ruiner Barnett once and twice for good measure Both taking upall but 10 seconds of the 30 minutes they’ve spent in the cage. The bomber does just what his name entails in an exciting manner, he is what HWP stands for. Sunny Supernova ties the ultimate theme of HWP down to what our fans love, A big weight difference where speed meets mass. Sunny will certainly use his wrestling and clinching ability to try to gas his opponent out while proving tycoon managers worldwide correct about heavyweight gassing issues. Likewise, the bomber will look to prove that bigger is better in a heterosexual way. As we know this will not be the last meeting for the two, but it will be the making of a great rivalry, LOOK OUT!

As the first of our action packed, 2 event weekend comes to a close right before UFC 170 we have all of the joys of great action before the main attraction. Thank you all for joining Heavyweight Prize Fighting and TO ALL ENJOY!
