Event Preview: HONOR Wednesday Warfare IV
HONOR Fighting Championship
2014-02-26, Las Vegas, The Underground - Las Vegas
Author:Tony Rossi

Welcome to the preview for Wednesday Warfare IV as always I am your host Tony Rossi and I am proud to take a look at this event with all of you. Wednesday Warfare is sponsored by Meet the Future which carries all of your Honor Fighting Championship merchandise which includes an amazing HFC shirt. Before I stopped off at Starbucks to write this preview I dropped by In The Red Sportsbook to make all of my bets for this card and I was shocked to see that there was already almost thirteen thousand dollars in bets. I dropped another five thousand so we should all thank Yump Dunger for putting odds on our events, and he should be thanking us for making him a fortune. For those of you who have yet to make your bets please don’t blame me if you do not make a profit as I have yet to, but if you use my predictions and you win some money I will be glad to take ten percent for the tips.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Featherweight Fight (135lbs)

Justin "Glenn" Bostic (3-3) {0-2} versus Johnny "Brutal" Bedford (14-12) {0-1}

Both these fighters are coming of back to back losses and they have found themselves at the opening of the show. You need to win to climb onto the main card and that is what both of these guys want to do. Bostic will want to keep this fight standing if he wants any chance to win. He is not dominate by any means in the striking department, but he is far better than Bedford. Jonny Bedford is one hell of a wrestler and he will be looking to take down Justin and pound him into submission. With have so much more fight experience and age it should not be a problem for Bedford to get the takedown. I am picking Jonny Bedford to win by TKO in the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Light Heavyweight (205lbs)

"The Real O.G." Ragnar Lothbrok (0-0) {0-0} versus Tim Tupy (1-1) {1-1}

You have to love anyone who calls themselves The Real O.G. first off. The Real O. G. has put a lot of time in at the gym and he has amazing boxing and wrestling from what I hear, and he will be looking to show it off to the world. He may struggle in his debut since he does have an equal opponent in Tim Tupy. Tupy is one and one and he should be looking to get this fight to the ground. Even though both of these guys are great boxers I think Tupy has slightly better Jiu Jitsu and he should be looking to exploit that in this fight. If this goes to the ground I think Tupy wins, but I have heard a lot of great things about Lothbrok and I think he gets the win by knockout in the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 3- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Gustov "Downtown" Brown (1-1) {0-1} versus "Dangerous" Phillip Finnegan (0-2) {0-1}

One thing is for certain in this fight, somebody is getting their first Honor Fighting Championship win. Both of these fighters lost their debut in Honor Fighting Championship and for one of these guys it’s time for a little redemption. Brown is a boxer and a wrestler who got his only win in a fight that went the distance. He was knocked out in his last fight and he should look to protect what appears to be a weak chin. Takedowns will be Brown’s friend in this fight and he will need to keep the fight on the ground for as long as he can. Finnegan is a striker trained in Muay Thai and extended now into boxing. He ran into submission fighters in his previous bouts and his lack of a ground game really hurt him. If he can keep this fight standing he will get the win, and I see him doing just that. I am picking Finnegan to win by TKO in the second round.

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

Dallas "Haneous" Riley (28-21) {2-0} versus Bruce Shashia (4-2) {2-1}

Riley will be fighting his fiftieth fight on this event and experience should play a big roll tonight. I think Riley is outmatched in everything except Jiu Jitsu so he will want to get the fight to the ground. With all of his craft veteran moves that should be no problem. Bruce may think he is postion to win and then boom a submission from left field and he goes home a loser. He will need to watch out if the fight goes to the mat, and he should try to force Riley to box with him. Regardless how this fight starts to look I think Riley gets it to the ground and submits Shashia in the second round.

Preliminary Bout Number 5- Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

"Tap U Out" Teddy Bass (6-0) {0-0} versus Todd Flanders (15-10-1) {0-0-0}

Bass has six wins and zero losses so far in his career, but he has yet to face anyone as talented as Flanders. Bass will have a slight advantage in the Jiu Jitsu aspect of the fight, but to use it he will need to find a way to get Flanders down, which may be harder than it looks. If he can get the fight to the ground he will have a chance, but I am not sure how good of a chance. Flanders is dominate at all aspects of the fight game, and do not let his record fool you because he is a very dangerous man. Flanders is on a bit of a downward spiral though as he has lost five straight fights. I think if he can prevent the takedown he will win the fight, but I have a feeling this fight will make it to the mat. I am going to pick a little upset special and go with Bass to win by submission in the third round.

Main Card Bout Number 1- Bantamweight Fight (135lbs)

Austin "Hollywood" Worner (17-17) {1-1} versus Steven "Hecklly" Heck (2-0) {1-0}

Worner will be looking to box in this match up. He has Heck outmatched in the striking department and he should look to take care of business with his fists. If Heck cannot get a takedown Worner should be able to stick and move all the way to victory. Personally I would not be looking for a knockout if I was Worner because I would not want to leave myself open for a takedown from such a good wrestler. Heck even though he is a great wrestler if he gets Worner down he will need to be looking to stop submissions. He is just not going to be able to ground and pound a victory, or control. I think Heck will get a takedown and dominate on the ground, but I also think Worner will eventually get a submission and I have him doing so in the third round.

Main Card Bout Number 2- Middleweight Title Fight (185lbs)

Donovan "Ronin" Robertson (5-0) {2-0} versus "The Wasp" Wayde West (2-0) {2-0}

The reigning defending middleweight champion has won all five of his professional fights by way of submission, so everyone knows he will be looking to get this fight to the ground by any means. He could have a little trouble since West is a better wrestler, but if he does get it to the floor exspect a submission quickly. West is also undefeated in his career and he has better striking than the champ. He should look to stop any takedowns, but the only way he will be able to slow them down is threw making Robertson pay for the attempt. I think leg kicks and sprawling will keep West off the ground, but not the entire time. For that reason I am picking Robertson to retain via submission in the fourth round.

Main Card Bout Number 3- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Arshnoor "THE BRUTALIZER" Singh (5-2) {1-1} versus Georgey "Suplex" Prendergast (4-1-1) {1-0-0}

This should be a great fight. Singh loves them head kicks and that always makes a fighter exciting. When a powerful head kick lands and you see someone crumple up and drop to the mat it’s like a bad car accident, you want to look away but you can’t. Singh has been talking trash about anyone and everyone he can so you know there will be a lot of pent up aggression that will be waiting to flow out. Prendergast has also won a few fights by knockout but they were not nearly as devastating.  He is a Muay Thai practitioner and a wrestler, who will want to use his wrestling in this one. He will need to get Singh off his feet so he can’t get kicked. I don’t think Prendergast will be able to get the fight down to the mat so I am picking Singh to win by knockout via head kick in the first round.

Co Main Event Main Card Bout Number 4- Bantamweight Fight (135lbs)

"Nobushi" Mitsuyo Maeda (25-20) {0-0} versus Ted "Diet" Coke (13-9) {0-0}

This could be an interesting fight, but I don’t think it will be. I could give you the usual stat run down of x amount of wins, x amount of finishes, x amount of fights, they are this good in y, but he is better in z and all that stuff is great. The problem is I think you can pretty much throw it all out the window in this fight. Here is the deal Coke got into Vegas yesterday and had a full twenty four hours to rest and relax and where is Maeda right now, well he is somewhere flying over the Atlantic. I am not even sure if he will make it to Vegas on time for the fight much less have time to do anything else. He is going to walk into this fight with all kinds of jet lag and look for a takedown then get knocked out by Coke. That is it, I have Coke to win by knockout in the first round.

Main Event Main Card Bout Number 5- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

"THE BUTCHER" Karl Grossman (30-21-1) {0-0-0} versus Taylor "woob woob woob" Clark (26-15-1) {1-0}

A whole lot of experience being flaunted in this fight. These two fighters have combined for ninety five career fights. Both of these guys don’t just have experience as they are very well rounded fighters and masters of their crafts. When you look at both of their skill sets though you see a big gap and that is in the boxing department. I think Grossman is not just a better boxer than Clark, but I think he is so much better with his hands and defensive this is almost an unfair fight. Clark could get lucky and this fight could end up on the ground where it will be a tossup of who wins but if it stays standing then Grossman has this in the bag. I am going to pick Grossman to win this fight by knockout, but I think it goes at least two rounds.

Now that the preview is done I am sure all of you wise managers will give a little pep talk to your fighters and maybe make some adjustments so I will keep the closing brief. For those of you who do not have a fight tonight I am sure you want to get over to In The Red Sportsbook and place your bets, so I will just close this with a thank you once again to In The Red Sportsbook, Meet the Future, and to Dan Monk for giving me the best job in the world. I will see all of you for the review of Wednesday Warfare IV.
