Author:Tony Rossi

Evolution has come and pass and now it’s time to Breakthrough! To help Honor Fighting Championship Breakthrough owner, president, and match maker Dan Monk has put together one of the most loaded event cards we have seen. There are fights on the prelims that would have been on the main card a few weeks ago, there are fights on the main card that would have been a huge main event a few weeks ago, the main event is one of the most hyped fights Honor Fighting Championship has ever seen. I know not only will the fans be happy but the fighters will as well. All of this is being done to help each and every one of you Breakthrough! Events like this will certainly lead to bigger fights and bigger paydays. Also breaking through will be Meet the Future and In The Red Sportsbook as they should receive a lot more foot traffic from this event and future events to come. For all of your Honor Fighting Championship merchandise please visit Meet the Future and for all of you Honor Fighting Championship gambling needs stop by In The Red Sportsbook.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Middleweight Fight

Yoshito "The Snake" Silva (4-4) {0-1} versus Bob "Beast" Harris (3-1) {1-0}

Where did Dan dig up Yoshito Silva? We have not seen him since we were still under the ICON tag. Honestly I thought the guy was dead it’s been so long since we heard a peep from him. Never the less he will be taking on dangerous grappler Bob Harris and he will need to stay away from the clinch and ground in this one. I think Silva has the standup skills to defeat Harris but he will need to avoid the ground game. Silva by no means is a slouch when it comes to grappling but I think Harris is just that much better. Harris will obviously want to get the fight to the ground, and he should look for any way to set that up. If Harris can get Silva to the ground he will need to out point him, because I do not see Harris finishing Silva with strikes or submissions. I think this will be a long one, but exciting, and I have Harris winning the fight by decision 30-27.

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Bantamweight Fight (135lbs)

bj "Boogieman" Ferguson (28-16) {0-1} versus Joe "The Pitch" Castro (3-1-1) {2-1-1}

Ferguson is getting up there in age, and a retirement ceremony might be right around the corner, but it’s not Saturday night. He will be looking to get win number twenty nine for his career and win number one in Honor Fighting Championship. To get those wins he will need to use his wrestling abilities and craft veteran prowess. Castro is a young gun compared to BJ, and he can use that to his advantage. He will have a more physical training camp and he should look to use his speed advantage in this one. The Muay Thai striker should be out for blood, and he should try and take the veteran out early. I am going to take Castro in this fight but do not be shocked if Ferguson gets the win. I think Castro can get the stoppage in the first round with a TKO.

Preliminary Bout Number 3- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Bud "King Of Beers" Weiser (3-2) {2-2} versus Al "KO" Hallick (2-0) {2-0}

The twenty five year old Weiser has been here since the beginning. So far Bud has compiled a two and two record in Honor Fighting Championship and he is looking to improve that to three and two when he takes on the hard hitting Hallick. To win this fight Weiser is going to need to rely on his wrestling and take this fight to the mat. Hallick is a striker who as improved his wrestling dramatically since coming to Honor Fighting Championship.  He will try to keep this fight standing where he can work the clinch or strike from range. If Hallik can finish Weiser by TKO or knockout that would improve his record to three and zero with all three wins by (T)KO. I am going with the blue corner again as I predict Hallick to win by knockout in the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Khru "Big Buddah" Maokhamphiou (4-1-1) {0-1-1} versus Leo "MrJugguernaut" Martinez (4-0) {0-0}

If you look at Khru’s record from Honor Fighting Championship you would not be impressed, but he was four and zero when he signed the contract to come to Honor Fighting Championship. Since then he had a draw against Diego Russell and then a loss to Diego Russell in the rematch. Both of those fights where for the title and after losing one and drawing one Khru is ready to get back to winning ways. Leo is no push over as he will be making his debut in Honor Fighting Championship and he is coming in with an undefeated record. The twenty six year old Muay Thai striker won his first two fights by decision but he has learned how deadly his kicks are winning his last two fights by head kick knockout. He wants to make a big splash in Honor Fighting Championship and what better way to do that then to beat the man who fought for the very first Light Heavyweight Championship. I think blue is my lucky color as I am picking Leo Martinez to win by knockout in the second round.

Preliminary Bout Number 5- Featherweight (145lbs)

Ben Zaylor (10-1) {1-1} defeats Diego "Firefox ak" Nunes (17-12) {0-1}

Zaylor has been impressive so far in his career compiling a ten and one record in his professional career. His only loss came in his last fight when he dropped the Featherweight Championship to Dewayne Bryant losing by submission in the first round. Zaylor has been very dominant at times but a weakness that needs to be addressed was revealed in the Bryant fight. Nunes fights the type of fighter that can beat Zaylor. He should allow Zaylor to dictate the fight until it reaches the ground, and then he should pounce and look for as many submissions as he can. The brown belt has yet to win a fight by submission but now should be the time to try. I don’t think he will be able to submit Zaylor, but I do think Zaylor submits him in the first round.

Main Card Bout Number 1- Featherweight Title Fight (145lbs)

Dewayne Bryant (7-4) {3-0} versus DeMario "McDojo Blackbelt" Williams (7-2) {2-0}

Bryant shocked the world in his last appearance as he defeated Ben Zaylor to capture the Honor Fighting Championship Featherweight Championship. Not only did he beat Zaylor but he did it in less than two minutes by showing off his black belt skills and earning the submission victory. He will have a lot of trouble getting Williams to the ground but if he does get the fight there it should end early once again. Williams is one of the best wrestlers in Honor Fighting Championship but he has improved his striking greatly. After seeing what Bryant can do on the ground Williams will want to keep this fight standing and turn this into a kickboxing match. I don’t think Williams is the best striker but he is light years ahead of Bryant. I don’t think Bryant will be able to get this fight to the ground and I see Williams winning by TKO in the second round.

Main Card Bout Number 2- Welterweight Fight (145lbs)

Kshitij "EL FENOMENO" Singh Negi (10-3) {0-1} versus Bjorn "Borg" Johanson (5-2) {0-0}

Negi made his debut in a title fight against Rock Lee which he lost by TKO in the second round. This young stud wants to prove to the world that was a fluke and get himself back into title contention. His team has been very sucsessful here in Honor Fighting Championship and he wants to carry that on. He will be looking for head kicks to score a quick knockout in this fight. Bjorn will be making his debut in Honor Fighting Championship and things are not exactly looking up for him at the moment. In his last two fights he is one and one with his win going the distance. He has a great opportunity here in HFC but he needs to get on the winning path sooner than later but I don’t think he can pull off a win in this one. He will need to be very defensive and look to counter if he hopes to beat Negi. I am going to pick Negi to win this fight by TKO in the third round.

Main Card Bout Number 3- Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

Jonathan "The Cheetah" Mvungi (7-4) {0-0} versus "THE KING" Oliver Queen (17-13) {0-0}

Both of these fighters are making their debut to Honor Fighting Championship and the winner of this could be seeing a title shot in the very near future. This should be a very interesting fight as Jonathan is a striker with heavy hands and Queen is more of an all-around fighter. I think Jonathan will have a slight advantage standing up and he could easily catch Queen with a big punch. I think Queen is the better fighter who has rounded out his game. He should look to take this fight to the ground where he will have a huge advantage over The Cheetah. No way can Jonathan keep up with the ground game of Queen. I am not saying that Queen can’t strike as he is good at that as well, all I am saying the advantage on the ground cannot be over looked. I think Queen does get the takedown and I see him winning by TKO in the second via ground and pound.

Co Main Event Main Card Bout Number 4-Bantamweight Fight (135lbs)

"Lord High Executioner" Albert Anastasia (12-4) {0-0} versus Aj Smith (17-14-1) {0-0}

The very first thing Anastasia needs to do is get a shorter nickname. The second thing he needs to do is make sure this fight stays standing. He should dominate Smith in the stand up and his wrestling is also better so he should be able to keep it up and at range. If he can Anastasia will be able to get off this two fight losing streak. Smith will have a clear cut advantage once this fight reaches the ground but the question will be can he get it there. He will struggle against Anastasia’s wrestling but he will need to try something to get it to the ground. Fourteen of Smith’s seventeen wins have come by submission so he knows the Jiu Jitsu game. Even though Anastasia has lost his last two fights I think he is just so much better than Smith right now, so I am going to pick him to win by TKO in the third round. It could come earlier has Smith does not have the greatest chin in the world.

Main Event Main Card Bout Number 5- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Riley Cooper (18-5) {0-0} versus "Muharebe Tankı" Murat Orgun (19-12) {0-0}

This looks like one hell of a main event. Cooper is eighteen and five and he has yet to be knocked out in his career. Ten of his eighteen wins though have come by (T)KO, and he will look to add another in this one. Cooper’s striking is almost as good as Orgun so he may try to box this one out, but if Murat tries to lock in a body lock or plum clinch expect Cooper to pull guard. Murat Orgun is nineteen and twelve but he has only been finished twice in his career. Out of his nineteen wins fourteen have been by knockout so he will be looking to strike with Cooper. If Cooper wants to stand with him he should go for it because I feel Cooper is the better grappler. I think this will be a good old fashioned slugfest and I think it goes all three rounds. I see Cooper edging this one out barely 29-28 is my guess.

Well that will wrap up this preview and I hope each and every one of you enjoyed it. I will see you all Saturday night for Honor Fighting Championship Breakthrough. As always I am your host Tony Rossi and I would like to thank one more time, In the Red Sportsbook for hosting our odds, and Meet the Future for carrying all of the Honor Fighting Championship apparel.
