Event Preview: WFL 14- Naamahaara vs Satanae
Warrior Fight League
2014-03-12, Helsinki, The Underground - Helsinki
Author:Josh James

On March 12th 2014 Warrior Fight League will present WFL 14- Naamahaara vs Satanae. The main event will be for the WFL Heavyweight Championship. WFL has put together nine more great fights to complement this huge main event. I know the excitement and anticipation must be pretty high right now so without further ado he is your breakdown of WFL 14- Naamahaara vs Satanae.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Very "Death" Magnum (6-6) {0-0} versus Adam "The Artist" Slate (1-1) {0-0}

To open our event we have two new comers to the WFL facing off with each other. Magnum is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu brown belt who can handle himself on the ground. He has six wins with all six of them coming from submission. He has had trouble getting the fight to the ground and that shows in his loss record. He has six losses one by TKO one by submission and four by decision. For Magnum to get over the hill he needs to improve his wrestling a great deal. Slate is a wrestler and that could mean there is a bad matchup here. Slate has attempted over thirty takedowns in his two combined fights which clearly states he want to take the fight to the ground. I think Slate does get a takedown but Magnum submits him in the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Marcelo Aurelio (2-3) {1-3} versus Freddy "The Scorpion" Kuris (1-1) {0-0}

We have seen a lot of Aurelio in the WFL. Most of it has not been very good as his four fight WFL record is one and three. IF Marcelo wants to win this fight he will need to be very aggressive with his takedown attempts. Once he gets one he has to look for the kill right away. This brown belt will have no problems submitting Kuris if he can just get it to the ground. Kuris is a very aggressive clinch fighter, but outside the clinch he is calculating. He throws a high amount of kicks at different levels of the body and he is very accurate landing them. He is going to want to lean more on the leg kicks to stop the takedowns and look for knees to the body inside the clinch. Somewhere in the second round he should start mixing in some head shots. I think Kuris will be able to keep the fight standing and in the spot he wants it to be in and I have him winning in the third round by TKO.

Preliminary Bout Number 3-Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Mahamud "The Shadow Killer" Najib Osman (2-6) {0-1} versus Joakim "[A]kke" Akterhall (0-1) {0-0}

Osman has not been up to par so far in his career as he is two and six so far. He is currently on a two fight losing streak and if he wants to get off that he will need to out wrestle his opponent. He will be outmatched in the stand up for sure but he will have an edge on the ground. I am pretty sure Osman won’t have a way to finish from the ground so he will need to stay active and score those judges points. As it was already stated Joakim is the far better striker and he will try and turn this into a kickboxing match real quick. He lost his only fight just by not being aggressive enough. If he aims higher more he should start racking up some knockouts and I have him starting that tonight. I got Akterhall winning in the second round via knockout head kick.

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Risto Haeyhae (2-1) {1-1} versus Ronaldo Hispanyola (7-4) {2-2}

The last time we got to see Risto fight he was eighteen and fighting at welterweight. He moved down to lightweight and was supposed to make his WFL lightweight debut twice but both fighters where canceled because his opponent was unable to make weight. I don’t think Risto is getting a great match up here either so I think we will have to wait to see his first win. Hispanyola is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Risto is going to want to take it to the ground. I think with Hispanyola’s better training in BJJ and his fight experience leads him to a second round submission victory.

Preliminary Bout Number 5- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Rik "The Monster" Borburgh (2-0) {0-0} versus Shinya Stanley (4-2) {2-1}

Rik The Monster Borurgh is going to have a monster opponent for his debut in the WFL. Borburgh may be undefeated but this will be his toughest opponent to date. Borburgh is a striker but he could be outmatched in that department in this one. I think he will look for the clinch and see if he can take advantage there. Stanley was two and zero in the WFL until he lost the fight for the welterweight title in his last appearance. Stanley will want to get his record back on the road in this on and I think he should be able to do it. Stanley needs to look for the takedown early and he should be able to easily ground and pound a TKO victory in the first round.

Main Card Bout Number 1- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Brad "Mayday" May (1-0) {0-0} versus Marcin "Gora" Waligora (2-0) {1-0}

May is a Muay Thai clinch expert who won his first and only fight by mixing it up in the clinch. I think his opponent will allow the fight to move to clinch and we will see both of these guys throwing knees. May will need to mix up his types of strikes and locations to keep Marcin off balance and to set up and big knee to the chin. Waligora will not fear the clinch but welcome it as he also loves to strike from there. This fight should be up close and personal and will come down to who can set their high knee up faster. I am going to put my money on May in this fight, and I think he gets a TKO in the first round.

Main Card Bout Number 2- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Patricio Rua (2-0) {1-0} versus Bokser Turniejowy (4-3) {0-1}

Rua is an aggressive clinch fighter who is all around good. He could stand and strike from range or go to the ground and wrestle but he just loves the clinch. He becomes dominate force inside the clinch as he mixes in punches, elbows, and knees looking to damage your face or your body. Bokser is a striker who lacks that knockout power. He is a very good point fighter though and all four of his wins have come by decision. He will need to stick and move and treat this fight like a boxing match because he does not want to be inside Rua’s clinch. I think Patricio Rua gets the clinch early though and just shreads Bokser. Bosker has never been knocked out and I don’t see him getting knocked out in this one, I do see him losing this fight by decision though.

Main Card Bout Number 3- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

"Yod" Yodthanong Photirat (6-15) {1-1} versus "The warmaster" Wan Benming (2-1) {1-1}

Yod is a kickboxer who will look to keep a fight standing at all costs. He has six wins five of which have come by knockout so he is always looking to take advantage somewhere in the stand up. He has a terriable record of six wins and fifth teen losses but he could turn it all around in the WFL, he is already one and one. Also one and one in the WFL is his opponent Wan Benming. Wan is a Muay Thai fighter who has a win by submission and one by decision so he can fight on the ground. I think Wan’s best chance to win this fight is to take Yod down and beat him there. I think somehow some way this fight does get to the ground and I have Benming with the fight in the second round by submission.

Co Main Event Main Card Bout Number 4- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

"Vegas" Las Mambo (10-1) {1-0} versus "Professional Loser" Juhani Jarvela (17-35) {0-0}

Mambo will have a disadvantage in the standup but it’s alright because he more than makes up for it with his impressive ground attack. Mambo is ten and one with eight wins coming by way of submissions. Clearly he wrecks people on the ground so he should look to get the fight there by any means necessary. Jarvela has no ground game and he has been submitted more times than Mambo has in fights. He is seventeen and thirty five and I don’t see one last hurray in his future. He is currently on a three fight win streak but I think that comes to an end when Mambo submits him in the first round.

Main Event Main Card Bout Number 5- Heavyweight Title Fight (265lbs)

"Apu" Kamala Naamahaara (12-5) {3-0} versus Brutus Satanae (3-1) {2-0}

Both of these fighters are undefeated in the WFL but Apu has had one more fight than Brutus. The Muay Thai master Apu has won three fight in the WFL and twelve in his career and every one of them has been by technical or just knockout. He is clearly a beast who will strike in the clinch or kick you in the face whatever you leave open to him. Brutus can match Apu’s Muay Thai skills and he loves to be in the clinch. I have not seen many kicks from him so he could be at a massive disadvantage outside of the clinch. I think we will get to see an amazing Muay Thai striking fest in this fight and I personally believe that Apu wins this one with a head kick somewhere in the third round.

Lots of standup to look forward to but for the ground lovers he have so great match ups for you too. I hope you enjoyed the breakdown of WFL 14- Naamahaara vs Satanae and I will see you again at the WFL 15 breakdown.
