Well this was not as good of an event as we have had in the last week or so, but it was still great. We just didn’t get the big rating we were hoping for but we still had ten awesome fights. Meet the Future was in full effect for the event I am think they did very well in merchandise sales. Well lets dive right on into the fights.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Dalton "Black Killer" Ismith defeats John "Drav" Dravinski

I should have known this fight would go the distance. I even said in the preview that these two where very similar fighters and that usually makes fights last a bit longer. Dalton dominated round one as it was not even close. In round two he continued to put the pressure on, but John showed some signs of life landing a big take down. He was not able to do anything with the takedown and lost his second round in a row. Round three was much more completive and I Dravinski showed us that he does have some skills. Dravinski won the third round with his ground and pound but it was the only round he won as he lost the fight 29-28 on all three judges score card. Dalton Ismith is the winner of the fight by decision unanimous.

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Alex "Almighty" Irwin defeats Tommy "The Marine" Riordan

I thought this fight would go on for a while. I did pick Irwin to win but I was thinking it would come in the third round. Instead Irwin came out and got a huge takedown early in the first round and then he started pounding on Riordan. At 1:30 of the first round Riordan tapped out from the bottom do to strikes. The official decision Irwin is the winner via submission do to strikes.

Preliminary Bout Number 3- Bantamweight Fight (135lbs)

Steve "Cobra" Cox defeats Johnny "Brutal" Bedford

I had Cox winning by decision because he has yet to learn how to finish. He has great promise as a fighter as long as he could start finishing fights. I personally did not think it was time for him to start finishing just do to the experience of Bedford. Cox dominated the fight right from the opening bell as he was landing at one hundred percent before Bedford got the takedown. Once on the ground Cox mixed in some beautiful grappling with some strikes and he was able to get into the position he wanted. Then Cox locked in an armbar as he forced Bedford to tap out at 2:32 of the first round to get his first finish. Everyone look out for Steve Cox from here on out.

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

"Dangerous" Phillip Finnegan defeats Felix "The KING" Cruz

Finnegan looked like he was well on top of his game as he was able to do whatever he wanted in this fight. He was able to stuff all four takedowns that came from Cruz while doing some amazing counter striking to go with. Finnegan landed at a very high percentage in this short fight and at :48 of the first round he landed a hook that put Cruz out instantly. Finnegan is the winner by way of knockout via punch in less than one minute.

Preliminary Bout Number 5- Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

Flash "Light" Gordon defeats Dallas "Haneous" Riley

Well I certainly couldn’t go ten for ten right? I had Riley winning this fight by submission in the third round after taking a beating from Gordon. Gordon put the hurting on Riley from the clinch in the first round, but then decided to take the fight to the ground where Riley worked feverishly to end the fight by submission. Gordon did not submit and the fight went to the second round with Gordon up on the cards one round to none. The second round started off the same as the first with Gordon dominating the standup portion of the fight. Riley was trying to get the fight to the ground when he was overwhelmed by Gordon with strikes. The referee had to jump in and stop the fight at :53 of the second round declaring the winner by TKO Flash Gordon.

Main Card Bout Number 1- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Investitor "Cujo" Gradnje defeats Reginald Leslie

I had Gradnje winning this fight all the way. I thought he would have been able to end it a little bit earlier than he did but what are you going to do? The first round it was all Investitor as he was able to get the early takedown and he worked in submissions and strikes. In the second round it was much of the same except Leslie was able to do some damage in the clinch but it was nothing substantial. Gradnje did get the fight to the ground again in the second and he was looking to finish and I had to score the second round the same as the first round with Gradnje winning 10-9. In the third round Leslie got the clinch early but Gradnje did get the fight to the ground by pulling guard. He started working on Leslie again and at 3:54 of the third round he was able to lock in Kimura that caused the submission. Investitor Gradnje is the winner via submission in the third round by way of Kimura.

Main Card Bout Number 2- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Rickson Bravo defeats Bjorn "Borg" Johanson

Well it would appear that Bravo should still be appearing on the main card and continue his climb to the top. I didn’t think Bravo would be able to get the fight to the ground but he pulled Johanson down in the first and really worked the ground game. He clearly won the round ten to nine in my book. The only difference in the second round from the first was Bravo got the takedown earlier and he won the round more clearly in the second. Johanson has really shown his great submission defense so far in this fight as he has defended fourteen submissions up to this point. In the third round Bravo got the takedown early again and discovered that he was not going to win by submission so he started working for the decision. After a lot of stalling the fight was stood up and Bjorn knew he needed the knockout. He went for the clinch and hammered away on Bravo but he could not get the finish. Johanson did clearly win the third round but he lost the fight on all three of the judges score cards 29-28.

Main Card Bout Number 3- Bantamweight Title Fight (135lbs)

Ethan "Captain Insaneo" Harris defeats Austin "Hollywood" Worner

I hate to be so judgmental but boring! This fight was terrible in my honest opinion. We learned two things in this fight. Number one Harris needs to learn how to do something besides throw elbows as he tried to land almost two hundred of the and he did land at ninety nine percent. We also learned that Worner has a good chin after taking almost two hundred shots in this fight. Other than that there was little to no action. Worner landed nothing and Harris was not active outside of the clinch. This was one of the most boring fights I have ever seen. Harris did end up winning the fight by decision after five long long rounds. Harris won each round ten to nine giving him the win fifty to forty five. The official decision The winner and still Bantamweight champion Ethan Harris via decision unanimous.

Co Main Event Main Card Bout Number 4- Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

"THE KING" Oliver Queen defeats Todd Flanders

This was not even a close fight. I thought Queen would get the win but I thought it would come in the second round. Flanders initiated the clinch and Queen went to town. He really mixed his strikes up well in the clinch landing elbows, knees to the body, knees to the head, punch to the body and punches to the head. Queen looked like a world class clinch fighter with how dominate he was. Queen split Flanders head open with an elbow and then seconds later landed a knee and a punch as the referee had to step in and stop the fight. The winner is Oliver Queen by TKO do to strikes at 1:32 of the first round.

Main Event Main Card Bout Number 5- Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

"The Assassin Reborn" Darwin France defeats "Muharebe Tankı" Murat Orgun

I had this fight ending in a one sided submission in the second round. I was inccorect about that as well as the method of victory but I did finish out this event at eight out of ten in predictions and I would have cleaned up if I would have been gambling. With that being said this was a great fight and I thought it was the best fight of the night and Dan Monk agreed giving the Fight of the Night award to these two. The first round was all France as he was able to do just about whatever he wanted and I thought this fight could have ended in the first round. Clearly France won the round ten to nine, but he did not repeat his performance in the second. The second was a great back and forth round with both fighters getting in some shots and imposing their will. I think Orgun was the clear winner of the round but it was a great round. In round three with these warriors tied at one round a piece France was able to pull out the decision victory. The third round was similar to the second as it was a great round for both fighters but I thought France edge it out. I had the fight scored after three rounds twenty nine to twenty eight in favor of Darwin France and all three judges agree.

We had more decisions than we normally see on one event and that might have affected our rating but I am not sure. Most of these guys put on a great showing and I had a lot of fun. I hope all of you did as well and I would like to send out a congradulations to all the winners. I will see you later for the HFC 9 preview.
