 WFL 18 looks to be a great event, as the inaugural WFL 185 lb title will be on the line, as well as some exciting 145 lb pound battles! Let’s get started:

Preliminary bout #1- Middleweight Fight (185 lbs)

#5 Juhani Jarvela (17-36) {0-1} versus Very Magnum (6-7) {0-1}

Both of these fighters lost their WFL debut, and will look to turn things around here in the first bout of the evening. Jarvela was dealt a tough hand in his WFL debut, as he was submitted by Las Mambo. Jarvela is a dangerous striker, with all 17 of his wins coming by way of knockout. Magnum on the other hand is a great grappler, all of his wins coming by submission. I don’t think Magnum will be getting this one to the ground though, and I have Jarvela winning by KO in round 1.

Preliminary bout #2- Welterweight Fight (170 lbs)

Alexander Pichushkin (3-1) {1-0} versus Erasmo Trout (3-2) {0-0}

Pichushkin, managed by the legendary Anti Kristus, had a heck of a start to his WFL career, knocking out Piotr Staruchowicz in the second round. The talented boxer had a slow start to his career losing his first fight, but has turned things around, winning three fights in a row by KO. Trout on the other hand is very well rounded. Trout will need to get this fight to the ground quickly to pull out the win, but I don’t think he will, and the “Chessboard Killer” will win by knockout in the first round.

Preliminary bout #3- Light Heavyweight Fight (205 lbs)

Trent Rock (5-5) {0-0} versus Marcin Waligora (2-1) {1-1}

Trent Rock enters his WFL fight with a full head of steam, winning 5 out of his last 6, four of those by knockout. Rock, however, may want to consider taking this battle to the canvas, as Marcin Waligora is a dangerous striker in his own right. However, I predict we will have an exciting standup battle on our hands here. Waligora, in my opinion, is the more talented striker, and I think it will show as he pulls out a decision victory.

Preliminary bout #4- Lightweight Fight (155 lbs)

Anzhor Azhiev (9-28) {1-0} versus Cesys Kazlauskas (7-8) {0-0}

A pair of journeymen grapplers meet here as Anzhor Azhiev looks to make in 2-0 in the WFL. Azhiev submitted Rafael Inclan in his WFL debut. Meanwhile, Kazlauskas enters the WFL winning two of his last three. This fight will undoubtedly be spent on the canvas, and I think the newcomer Kazlauskas pulls off a submission.

Preliminary bout #5- Featherweight Fight (145 lbs)

Derek Gordon (4-2) {1-1} versus Calvin Revengedanger (2-2) {0-0}

We have a classic striker vs grappler matchup in our final preliminary bout. The grappler Gordon has won all of his fights by sub, while Revengedanger has won all of his fights by KO. Revengedanger has arguably some of the best Muay Thai skills in the WFL, and if he keeps this one on the feet he will should get the win. I think that will happen, as I have Calvin by KO in round 1.

Main Card bout #1- Middleweight Fight (185 lbs)

#3 Renato Otis (7-3) {1-0} versus #4 Kia Turunen (4-4) {1-1}

Another grappler vs grappler matchup here. The well rounded Otis prefers to grapple, but I think he can succeed if he keeps this one standing, but this one will likely head to the canvas. Otis has the stronger wrestling, but both fighters are purple belts in BJJ. This is a tough fight to pick, but I will take Renato Otis by decision and I think he gets the next shot at the belt.

Main Card bout #2- Middleweight Fight (185 lbs)

Luiz Carvalho (4-2) {0-0} versus Adam Slate (2-1) {1-0}

Both of these middleweights are coming in with a ton of momentum, Carvalho winning 4 in a row, 3 via KO, and Slate has won two in a row. Carvalho is very well rounded, with a good ground game and nasty hands, while Slate relies more on his wrestling. Carvalho should pull out the win here, and I think it will be by KO in round 2.

Co-Main event- Featherweight Fight (145 lbs)

#5 Suliman Kane (6-7) {1-1} versus Artair Dostan (9-7-1) {2-3}

Both of these featherweight studs come into this bout coming off losses. Dostan is a very well rounded fighter, but prefers to strike. Kane is also very well rounded, but with a brown belt in BJJ, he prefers to grapple. This is a tough fight to pick, with Dostan’s shady sub defense and Kane’s shaky chin. I’ll go with Artair Dostan by 1st round KO.

Main Event- Middleweight Title Fight (185 lbs)

#1 Las Mambo (11-1) {2-0} versus #2 Tomas Skalinskas (3-0) {2-0}

We have a fantastic matchup here in our Main Event for the inaugural WFL Middleweight Title. Both of these fighters are very well rounded. Mambo, however, has the advantage on the ground, while Skalinskas has the edge on the feet. Skalinskas has dazzled in his WFL career thus far, subbing Curiano Mohadef in a great comeback, and then knocking out Kia Turunen in just over a minute. However, I think Mambo’s grappling will be too much, and I think he submits Skalinskas in round 2.

This is a great lineup here put on by the WFL and I am very excited for the main event! If you agree or disagree with any of these, or if you have any smack talking to do, be sure to check out the smack talk thread located in the forums!
