I am sure Dan will appreciate this. If I could get a little decorum from you because I have some bad news! We suffered a big hit in our rating and rankings after last night’s event. I am sure having only half the fights end with a finish played in on it, as well as odds going up late for the event also didn’t help. I thought some of the fights where great, while some were a little boring. Let’s see what all of you think after the review of Wednesday Warfare IX.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Yoshito "The Snake" Silva defeats Corner "Alley Cat" Bum

Well the night started off with what I thought was a controversial decision. Silva clearly dominated the first round. Both fighters scored a takedown in the first round and Bum got to his feet on his own one time, while the referee stood them up the first time. Silva was more active on the ground so I gave him the nod. The second round we got to see another very active ground game from Silva. Even though he was active he was attempting sloppy submissions and it looked more like he was trying to readjust Bum rather than actually finishing him. Bum also attempted a few submissions of his own and he scored both takedowns in the round. The third and final round seemed to be all Bums. He was out striking Silva in and out of the clinch and he scored the only takedown of the fight. Once again Silva was more active but Bum still looked to lock in a submission of his own. I scored the third round for Bum scoring the fight 29-28 for Bum but all three judges scored the fight 29-28 for Silva.

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Larry "The Time Bomb" Tanaka defeats Lygmantas Daunotas

Round one Daunotas was winning the fight most of the time. I think he had edge out the points until the last half a minute. Tanaka knocked Daunotas down with a big right hand but he then allowed Daunotas to get back up. In the las few seconds Daunotas seemed to be on wobbly legs but Tanaka could not finish him. The second round Daunotas got off to a quick start again only to get knocked down at about a minute and a half. This time Tanaka went to the ground where he had to fight off a submission attempt, then the two rested until we got a referee stand up. Tanka then dominated the last thirty seconds or so again. The third round started with a flurry once again for Daunotas but it did not last long. As both fighters really started to tire out Tanaka was still trying to keep the pressure on and he continued to land. Daunotas got a few in but for the most part it was Tanaka. I scored the fight 30-27 for Tanaka and so did all three judges.

Preliminary Bout Number 3- Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

Quagmire "Ohh" Yeah defeats Bruce Shashia

The first round opened up with Shashia landing a little bit but he was missing a lot of combinations. Those missed combos lead to a takedown by Yeah early in the fight. Once on the ground Yeah dominated Shashia as he was trying submissions, gaining better positioning, and controlling the better position. Shashia was able to stand up late in the round but Yeah had already won it in the judge’s eyes. Shashia opened the second round dominating Yeah. He was scoring inside and outside with some great striking. Yeah was able to get the fight to the ground before suffering to much damage. Once again on the ground it was all Yeah as he was relentless with his submission attempts. On the third or fourth attempt he was able to lock in an Americana forcing Shashia to tap out. Yeah got the win at 3:59 via submission by Americana.

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

"The Wasp" Wayde West defeats Josh "The Chris Bosh" Laston

Well I don’t know what to really say about this fight. I thought West would win with a finish but somehow Laston was able to last the entire fight. Laston landed one tack down and one ground strike. That was the only thing that Laston was able to do for the entire fifth teen minutes. West was landing strikes in and out of the clinch and at some points it seemed he was just toying with Laston, but he could not get the finish. Honestly I think that the only reason West was not able to put him away was the focus on body strikes. All three judges as well as myself scored the fight 30-27 for the winner by unanimous decision Wayde West.

Preliminary Bout Number 5- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Vedran Milosevic defeats "GroundnPound" Kevin Coonaments

I thought Milosevic was going to have to submit Coonaments to win. Boy was I wrong as this fight didn’t get anywhere near the ground and that put Kevin way out of his comfort zone. In the thirty seven seconds that this fight lasted we did not even get to see a takedown attempt. We did see Coonaments get busted open and the referee jump in to stop Vedran from pummeling Coonaments. Vedran Milosevic gets the win via TKO by strikes at :37 of the first round.

Main Card Bout Number 1- Bantamweight Fight (135lbs)

Steve "Cobra" Cox defeats bj "Boogieman" Ferguson

Cox was amazing tonight. He scored a very early take down after defending one of Ferguson’s. Once on the ground it was all Cox as he overwhelmed Ferguson with ground and pound. He was able to land ten strikes or so from the ground and that’s all the referee thought Ferguson could handle. The official decision Steve Cox is declared the winner at 1:38 of the first round by TKO do to strikes.

Main Card Bout Number 2- Middleweight Bout (185lbs)

Erick Rootmans defeats Duke Ellington

I thought this would be more of a slugfest than it actually was. Rootmans did a lot of damage in the first and second round with ground and pound. Just to put the icing on the cake Rootmans dominated the third round in the clinch. Ellington was able to land a few shots in each round but nothing that was significant. After the three rounds where over Rootsmans was declared the winner by unanimous decision. All three judges and I agreed scoring the fight 30-27 in favor of Erick Rootsman.

Main Card Bout Number 3- Featherweight Title Fight (145lbs)

Marcus Chandler defeats DeMario "McDojo Blackbelt" Williams

I am happy I was correct on picking the winner and the method but I personally thought this was a boring fight. Fifty nine strikes landed in twenty five minutes. That is about one strike landed per fighter every twenty five second or so. Chandler was more aggressive and he was able to land a takedown or two as he sailed to victory by decision. All three judges scored the fight 50-45 but I think Williams did win round two so I scored it 49-46. Regardless of how it was or should have been scored everyone agreed that we have a new Featherweight Champion and that is Marcus Chandler.

Co Main Event Main Card Bout Number 4- Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

"THE KING" Oliver Queen defeats "Pretty Pete" Peter Parker

Queen was a beast in this fight. Right from the opening bell Oliver was the more aggressive fighter as he landed a few shots before Parker took it to the clinch. I was a little surprised that Parker was already stalling and trying to catch his breath. Once Queen noticed Parker was already tired he went for the kill laying on the punches, elbows, and knees from the clinch. A big shot landed and then Queen followed it up by swarming Parker and the referee stopped the fight at 1:34 of the first round. Oliver Queen wins by TKO do to strikes.

Main Event Main Card Bout Number 5- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Drazen Kadoic defeats Laz "Flying hollander" Icarus

This was a one sided beat down. Kadoic landed forty nine strikes to Icarus’s two. Icarus was cut, knocked down, and rocked all in the process. Kadoic was landing strikes in and out of the clinch as he dipped in and out with no problem. He clearly over matched Icarus and he eventually knocked him out. At 2:38 of round number two Kadoic was declared the winner by knockout via punch.

What a horrible week to not gamble on the event. I went nine and one on my predictions so I hope at least a few of you made big bucks. It was a great event and we had some good finishes which obviously helped make it a good event. I will see you later for the preview of HFC 10.
