Honor FC 13 preview

Event Preview: HONOR FC 13 State of Emergency
HONOR Fighting Championship
2014-04-26, Las Vegas, Hard Knocks - Las Vegas
Author:Tony Rossi

Alright Honor fans I am going to break the fourth wall a little bit here. I work at an Irish Pub as a cook and some guy bought me a whole bunch of beer for a tip. Now there is nothing better than an ice cold beer when you’re done working unless you work in Europe where people seem to enjoy room temperature beer which is disgusting. Anyways I threw down a few and then picked up some more on my way home. It’s still day light here and I am freaking lit up and I have to stop partying so I can do this preview. See how much I love you guys, well I love the pay but you guys too. Anyways let’s get down to business.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Jon "Hard Fast" Moxley (0-1) {0-1} versus Jacoby "BLAZING FISTS" Jameson (0-1) {0-1}

This will be a very interesting bout as both of these fighters have a zero and one pro record and both of their fights have been in Honor Fighting Championship. That’s not the reason it is interesting, what makes it so interesting is this will be a one round fight but the round will be ten minutes in length. Moxley is only eighteen and he has a background in boxing. He will want to stay at range and strike with Jameson for sure. Jacoby Jameson is nineteen and boy o boy has he been putting in work. Jameson is a highly skilled Muay Thai striker and he has been working on his boxing and wrestling as he tries to become a triple threat. He should be happy to strike at range, but he should have the advantage in the clinch.

Prediction: Jameson wins by Decision (Unanimous) at the end of round number 1

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Derec "The Dirty" Waller (1-0) {0-0} versus Felix "The KING" Cruz (3-7) {0-3}

Waller will be making his HFC debut in this fight and he is currently one and o in his professional career. This twenty five year old won his debut with a twenty seven second TKO victory but I don’t see that becoming a regular thing. He will want to ground and pound his opponents from here on out. Cruz is on a three fight losing streak that started on his first fight with HFC. He will welcome a ground attack by Waller as he will want to use his Jiu Jitsu skills. If he wants to get back to winning ways he will need this fight to go to the ground.

Prediction: Felix Cruz wins by submission in the first round

Preliminary Bout Number 3- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Josh "The Chris Bosh" Laston (5-3) {2-1} versus Robert "Chop" Decker (2-2) {1-2}

Lanston is two and one here in Honor and he has had a big win since joining the roster. He will look to get another win in this one driving his record up to three and one and getting him closer to the gold. If Laston wants to get the win in this one he will need to keep this fight standing at all costs. Decker is one and two in HFC and he just got his first win in his last fight. All of his wins and losses have come by submission so I exspect him to take the fight to the ground quickly but his opponent does have two wins by submission which makes this a tough fight to pick.

Prediction: Josh Laston wins by Submission in the second round

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Vinnie "Danger Zone" Jones (9-3) {0-1} versus Marek Contofalsky (3-6) {1-2}

Both of these fighters are trying to bring their HFC records up to .500. Jones is o and one and he will look to take his opponent to the ground and submit him. He is a great point grappler which comes in handy when you just can’t lock in a submission. Contofalsky is one and two so far in Honor and he will want to stay away from the ground if at all possible. Marek will have a huge advantage in the standup so I hope he has been working on his takedown defense.

Prediction Vinnie Jones wins by Submission in the second round

Preliminary Bout Number 5- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Bobby "The Next Big Thing" Shamrock (6-3) {2-2} versus Dack Fayden (8-4) {0-1}

Well if you don’t know by now I will tell you all one more time, I am a huge Shamrock fan. He has been in a bit of a funk lately losing his last two fights. To rebound in this one Bobby is going to need to keep this fight standing. He is a great wrestler but he has to do something to avoid Fayden on the ground. Fayden will obviously want it on the ground so he can show off his grappling skills and his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Fayden may want to consider just laying back and countering until the fight hits the mat.

Prediction: Dack Fayden wins by Submission in the third round

Main Card Bout Number 1- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Drazen Kadoic (26-16) {1-0} versus "Knifeman" Brett Riverboat (16-6) (2-0)

Kadoic is a top notch striker and his eighteen knockouts prove that. He does have a good ground game to go with his stand up but he has not won a fight by submission. His bread and butter is the stand up and that means we should see fireworks in this one. Riverboat is also a striker and all sixteen of his wins have come by TKO. This fight should end early by knockout and even though Kadoic is the better striker I think Riverboat can mix his game up enough to be just as effective.

Predictions: Riverboat wins by TKO in the first round

Main Card Bout Number 2- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

"Wittertainment" Mayo Kermode (18-10) {1-1} versus Laz "Flying hollander" Icarus (21-14) {0-2}

Kermode took on one of the best fighters if not the best in HFC in his last fight. That ended in defeat but Kermode will remain as one of the top contenders in the Light Heavyweight Division. If Kermode wants to rebound from that loss he will need to get this fight to the ground. Icarus is o and two and he will have some difficult if the fight hits the mat. While the fight is standing though he will have a great advantage and he should look to stay to the outside. Maybe a heavy counter game plan would work best for the struggling fighter.

Prediction: Mayo Kermode wins by TKO in the second round

Main Card Bout Number 3- Welterweight Title Fight (170lbs)

"Veliki" Ljuti Hrcak (14-1) {3-1} versus Rock "Taijutsu" Lee (6-2) {5-2}

Hrcak is set to defend his title for the first time and he will be taking on the man he took it from. He needs to prove that the quick guillotine was no fluke. To do that he is going to want to get this fight to the mat as quickly as possiable and then lock on that submission once again. Lee has only been defeated twice and one of them was against Hrcak. This will be his redemition fight. If he has learned anything from the last fight is to not go to the mat. His stand up is a lot better than Hrcak and he should be able to dispose of him quickly as long as it stays standing.

Prediction: Hrcak wins by Submission in the first round

Co Main Event Main Card Bout Number 4- Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

Roy "The Wardog" Pitbull (23-12-1) {3-0} versus Todd Flanders (17-11-1) {2-1}

Pitbull is just so good anywhere in the cage. It really doesn’t matter where his opponents try to take him since he usually has a big advantage. Most of his wins have come by TKO but he holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu which means he can just focus on his opponent’s weakness. Flanders is two and one in the HFC and his only loss came against Queen, who Pitbull defeated already. Flanders should look to clinch with Pitbull if he doesn’t want to take his second loss in Honor. Even in the clinch I could not say Flanders would defiantly win, but I can say anywhere else he will definitely lose.

Prediction: Roy Pitbull wins by TKO in the third round

Main Event Main Card Bout Number 5- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

"Uszol" Rafal Dabrowski (18-5) {2-0} versus Kaito "Tsunami" Rin (19-6) {2-0}

I think if Dabrowski wins this fight that should put him in line for a shot at the Middleweight Championship. He gets to that point by not getting on the ground with Rin. While standing up Rafal should have a good advantage. He will need to mix his strikes well and stay to the outside to get a win in this one. Rin is two and o in HFC just like Rafal. Rin has taken both of his Honor opponents to decision as it seemed that he just can’t finish a fight. If he allows this one to slip to the final bell he better make sure that over half the fight took place on the ground.

Prediction: Rafal Dabrowski wins by Decision after the third round

There you have it guys. Have fun and good luck to the fighters tonight. Also good luck to me since I am throwing down some serious cash. I will see you for the review of Honor FC 13.
