GAMMA #391: WILLIAMS versus ROOK REVIEW written by Furious Styles

APRIL 20, 2014   WOMBLEY ARENA, LONDON       93,607 ATTENDANCE

Hello good folks, I hope all of you are well and enjoyed the mixed martial arts action you witnessed! GAMMA had another explosive and electric event at the Wombley Arena that left the crowd breathless and wanting to see more of course! The Super Heavyweight Title was on the line and everyone was very excited that it was the very first battle of the night, so without further ado, let’s get down to business!

MAIN CARD SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT: SIMON WILLIAMS (35-9-1) of CONVICTED INC. versus YURI ROOK (25-20) of the CAVEMENS ASSASSINS CULT
Williams’ fists were on point, Rook wasn’t able to take this fight to the ground, and eventually, Rook paid for those failed takedowns rather painfully! Williams went to work on Rook’s body with devastating kicks and rib-rocking punches that sucked the energy right out of Rook. A sharp left cross from Williams cut Rook above his right eye and soon after, Williams landed a booming right cross that floored Rook like he was hit by a car!
To his credit, Rook got to his feet quickly but it was evident that he was in serious trouble. Williams methodically worked his way back into close range and dropped Rook again with a vicious left uppercut then pummeled Rook into unconsciousness! Williams earned the KNOCKOUT VICTORY and this battle was deemed the Fight of the Night!

MAIN CARD WELTERWEIGHT EVENT: “RUSTY” RUSS RUTGER (34-15-1) of the FINNFIGHTERS versus “THE SANDMAN” HOLDEN GRACIE (30-12-1) of GRABTHE.INFO
After a brief exchange in the standup game that saw each warrior land a solid shot on the opponent, Rutger surprised Gracie with a quick right cross that cut him above his left eye! Rutger then soon afterward took the fight to the ground where he controlled the action but failed to lock in a submission due to Gracie’s defensive ability.

Rutger again took the fight to the ground in the 2nd round after a pretty even affair standing up and worked his way into a quick side control position then landed some brutal ground-and-pound until a thunderous left elbow dazed Gracie! Rutger went full mount and dropped bombs until the ref jumped in to stop the fight! Rutger earned both the TECHNICAL KNOCKOUT as well as the KO of the Night!

MAIN CARD MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT: EJNAR THORSEN (17-4-1) of the LEGION OF PAIN versus “KOROSHIYA” ICHI IJIMA (18-13-1)
Both fighters were very aggressive from the start and wound up in the clinch very early. Thorsen took some strong strikes from Ijima then unleashed some of his own pain on Ijima! It was apparent that both men were struggling to land clean strikes as they both have great defensive techniques, however, it was the failed takedown attempts from Ijima that slowed him down. A failed jump into guard attempt from Ijima created distance and when Ijima got to his feet, Thorsen blasted Ijima with a nasty left cross that dropped him and Thorsen wasted no time pounding him out until the ref had no choice but to stop the fight! Thorsen earned the TECHNICAL KNOCKOUT VICTORY!

MAIN EVENT FEATHERWEIGHT UNDERCARD EVENT: “THE WHORSEON” LIK ALOTADIK (15-4-1) versus “TERRIBLE” TYRONE TORNADO CPW (27-12-1) of GRABTHE.INFO
After absorbing a jaw-crushing right uppercut that sent him back against the cage, Alotadik woke up and overwhelmed Tornado with his aggression and skill in the clinch, earning the UNANIMOUS DECISION VICTORY!

UNDER CARD LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT EVENT: “THE PURPLE STRIPE” PIERRE TRUDEAU (23-10-1) of the LEGION OF DOOM versus “THE BOY WHO LIVED” HARRY POTTER (24-12) of FAT CAMP

The majority of this fight was a clinch war that could have gone either way in the 1st round, but in the 2nd round, a stifling jab dazed Potter and Trudeau finished him off with a faked leg kick into a Superman Punch! Trudeau earned the KNOCKOUT VICTORY!

UNDER CARD MIDDLEWEIGHT EVENT: SAMPSA “MALICIOUS” SILOPOSKI (41-21-2) versus GLENN CARSON (27-15-1) of the LEGION OF DOOM
Carson tried to take advantage of his Red Belt level BJJ, but was unable to and this lead to very bad things or him! First a stinging 1-2 punch combo from Siloposki opened a cut above his right eye then Siloposki locked in a tight clinch, devastated Carson with a savage left uppercut, then a massive right knee to the skull floored Carson! Siloposki was all over him like white on rice and the ref had to stop the match, giving the TECHNICAL KNOCKOUT VICTORY to Siloposki!

UNDER CARD WELTERWEIGHT EVENT: MARSHALL NOIR (22-9-2) of the LEGION OF DOOM versus “COCAINE IS HULLAVA DRUG” RICK JAMES (16-11-1) of the LEGION OF DOOM
Another inter-Alliance battle is in the books and let me just say this: I think Rick James’ nickname is meant to read “Cocaine Is A Helluva Drug”, but then again, what do I know?  Well, I know that Noir earned the bragging rights in the Legion of Doom for this victory over James! Noir took this fight to the ground, and after failing to make James tap, he moved to full mount then dropped bombs on James until the ref had no choice but to stop the fight! Noir won by TECHNICAL KNOCKOUT VICTORY!

UNDER CARD MIDDLEWEIGHT EVENT: CHARLIE “DARKNESS” MURPHY (15-8) of the LEGION OF DOOM versus “THE FIGHTING FLAT TOP” JOSIP RUZIC (39-17-2) of the LEGION OF PAIN

It seems the Dave Chappelle show theme was in full form on this fight card as Murphy was in action. Murphy dominated the 1st round, opened a cut on Ruzic’s forehead in the 2nd with a nasty left knee to the head, and finished strong in the 3rd to win by UNANIMOUS DECISION!
UNDER CARD MIDDLEWEIGHT EVENT: TONY “TIGER” LAMOTTA (21-13) of the CAVEMENS ASSASSINS CULT versus “THE DIVINE GUITARIST” JIMI HENDRIX (19-13) of THE BROKEN HALO PRIDE

Lamotta rocked Hendrix’s world with a snapping left head kick but Hendrix survived the round! Lamotta tagged Hendrix with a right head kick that floored the guitarist but he got up and finished the round. In the 3rd round, Lamotta’s hands finished the punishment when he rushed Hendrix after a brutal right hook and the ref stopped the match! Lamotta won by TECHNICAL KNOCKOUT!
UNDER CARD FEATHERWEIGHT EVENT: “LOS EXTRANJEROS ILLEGALES” TICO CORTEZ (19-10-1) of the LEGION OF DOOM versus “THE KING” DANIEL MOREIRA (21-13-1) of the LEGION OF DOOM

I wonder if the Legion of Doom is having an inter-Alliance competition or something because they fought one another a lot on this card! Cortez was the better fighter on the ground where the vast majority of this fight was spent, and he earned the UNANIMOUS DECISION VICTORY as well as the right to brag at the next Legion of Doom barbecue party!

All right my good people, it’s time for me to run so I can organize the content for my next review of a GAMMA event! As always I appreciate you taking the time to hang out with me and review the events that went down. I’m sure this weekend will be nothing short of explosive and exciting so be sure to catch the action. If you feel brave, place some bets and I wish you the best of luck! This is Furious Styles signing off, and I’ll see you…at the fights!
