Well we had some pretty awesome fights that went the distance, and unfortunately a no contest. We had a slick comeback that I really blew my mind and some other fights that went pretty much the way we expected them to, let’s check them out.

Preliminary Bout Number 1 – Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Junior “PitBull” Flores Defeats Nobuhiko “CIMA” Oshima

I thought Oshima was going to last and be able to get this fight to the ground, but I was wrong. The first started out on seemingly even footing with Oshima clearly trying to close the distance and get into the clinch, to no avail. They traded a few shots, Oshima landed a couple jabs and Flores was mixing it up. Flores got into a rhythm real quick though, scoring shots to the body and head. Eventually Flores lands a right hand that puts Oshima to sleep very early in the first round.

Juinor Flores via KO at 0:57 of round 1.

Preliminary Bout Number 2 – Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

“The Real O.G. Ragnar Lothbrok Defeats Chris “The Crippler” Coryatt

Wow, this was a great fight! Coryatt and Lothbrok seemed evenly matched the entire fight. They traded shots and kept a really active pace and never gave each other time to rest. They went all three rounds showed no fear along with some super tough chins. Lothbrok preferred to keep the fight outside as Coryatt was showing his dominance in the clinch. In the end Lothbrok just barely won the judge’s decision, which I’m assuming is based off the amount of damage done. Incredible fight, either way. Lothbrok via Split Decision.

Preliminary Bout Number 3 - Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

“Psycho” Walter Bishop VS. “Cold Storm” Markus Vinicius

Walter Bishop had a terrible time trying to make weight. After initially coming in at 180.7 he had two hours to make the official fight weight. Stepping on the scales for a second time, he still failed to make the required weight and after much deliberation, his fight with Markus Vinicius was cancelled.

NO CONTEST

Preliminary Bout Number 4 – Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Mica "Zli Covek" Gavric Defeats Khru "Big Buddah" Maokhamphiou

Well, I was right… and then I was wrong. I was pretty confident in Khru’s takedown defense and he did as I expected, defending 5/5 takedowns and kept the fight standing like he needed to. Around 1:00 into the fight, Khru breaks the clinch and Gavric misses with a takedown attempt. Khru counters with a left hand that sends Gavric to the floor and he follows it up with some strikes. This looks like a quick victory for Khru but Gavric holds on for dear life, avoiding as many strikes as possible and trying to stay active and throws out some submission attempts. Around 2:00, with his legs high up over his opponent, Gavric manages to hip escape into the T position rip through Khru’s grip and secure an armbar for an amazing comeback victory.

Mica Gavric via Submission at 2:20 of round 1.

Preliminary Bout Number 5 – Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

“Pretty Pete” Peter Parker Defeats Boris JorJovsky

Pretty spot on target for this one. Parker was able to stuff 26/27 takedowns and when JorJovsky did get it to the ground, he wasn’t able to do anything before the ref stood them up. JorJovsy easily dominated the standup and was very close to getting a KO in the 3rd round but JorJovsky was able to hang in there.

Peter Parker via judge’s decision.

Main Card Bout Number 1 – Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

“Dangerous” Phillip Finnegan Defeats Derec “The Dirty” Waller

Right from the beginning there was some good action, Finnegan was using his jab well and Waller was showing some pretty good defense as well. Waller was definitely focusing on getting this into the clinch and managed to do so after the second attempt. Waller was able to keep his opponent in the clinch able to be much more effective while there, showing great clinch control. Towards the end of the round Finnegan manages to break the clinch and get a few good shots off before the bell rang. Round 2 starts and Finnegan comes out eager to change the direction of this fight. He lands a good jab and darts in with a huge right hand that drops his opponent and he dives in throwing with everything he’s got, Waller was hard to defend but Finnegan was having none of it and forced the ref to stop the fight.

Phillip Finnegan via TKO at 0:09 of round 2.

Main Card Bout Number 2 – Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

"The Muharib" Mohamed al Hadj Defeats Dom "Dueces Wild" Danky

Well, I was right on this pick, I’m getting pretty good at this! The fans didn’t seem to appreciate this fight, both fighters were fairly passive and weren’t really throwing with any intentions on doing some damage. They pretty much traded shots the entire fight with Hadj throwing a lot of low kicks to keep Danky as far away as possible.

Mohamed al Hadj via judge’s decision.

Main Card Bout Number 3 – Light Heavyweight Title Fight (205lbs)

Al "KO" Hallick Defeats Mari "Smoke" Juana

Well, Juana was able to get this to the ground as easily as I had expected, unfortunately he wasn’t able to do much while he was down there. He missed 13/14 strikes on the ground and didn’t have much control of the situation. (How do you miss punches against an opponent that isn’t even moving? Whatever.) Round two starts and Hallick counters a wild hook with a head kick that sends Juana to the floor. Still conscious, Juana manages to get back to his feet quickly and Hallick quickly throws another head kick that puts Juana to sleep.

Al Hallick via KO at 0:16 of round 2.

Co Main Event – Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Dack Fayden Defeats Bobby "The Next Big Thing" Shamrock

Well, this isn’t what I wanted to happen but it was expected, although it happened a lot easier and quickly than I anticipated. Fayden immediately was able to get the fight to the ground and as Shamrock was frantically trying to escape back to his feet, Fayden was able to transition and get to his back and secure a Rear Naked Choke

Dack Fayden via submission at 2:30 of round 1.

Main Event - Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Tyrion "The Imp" Lannister Defeats Takeshi Watanabe

Yup, another one that was expected. Lannister was able to secure a quick takedown and make short work of Watanabe’s lack of BJJ skill. He was able to easily transition into side control and land some nice elbows and eventually lock in a solid Kimura.

Tyrion Lannister via Submission at 1:49 of round 1.

Well, those were the highlights of the night. Sorry for the late review i’m busy as always. I’ll be here early tomorrow for the HONOR FC 19 Caged Carnage preview. Cya later HONOR fans.
