Event Preview: AXF '9
Australian Xtreme Fighting
2015-05-23, Sydney, Sydney Superdome
Author:Louie DePalma

Ladies and Gentlemen, AXF in Sydney is very excited to present to you this weeks epic event coming to you live from the Sydney Superdome where we expect upwards of 18, 500 rabid Australian Xtreme Fight fans to make their way to take in what will be another top notch action packed show.  This event brings us 2 great fights to call the Main Event and Co Main event of the evening as Sydney sons Lan Mandragoran and Trent Quo Titan Kirbs return once more to show off their skills for the fans once more.

Main Event - 265 lbs Lan Mandragoran vs John Arnie Ironz

Our Main Event showcases a battle between a pair of Elite level strikers who hold a combined 53 career (T)KO finishes and a combined 23 career KO losses.   Both combatants come into this match up following a Loss however they took place in much different timeframes.  Mandragoran lost in his debut fight with AXF 2 weeks ago against striker Varg Veide barely lasting into the second minute of the fight.   Meanwhile opposing Lan is veteran Arnie Ironz who will step into the cage for the first time in 10 months.  Mandragoran possessing a mixed offensive attack showcasing punches, kicks and lethal elbows in the clinch.  His 25 career KO's are an outstanding achievement however looking in his eyes from the opposite side of the cage is a fighter who holds 3 more with 28 throughout his career.   Ironz brings to the table a very similar skillset minus the elbows however is still strong in the clinch however slightly less accuracy but in this game accuracy is not the key, whatis key is landing the right strike at the right time and Ironz resume shows that taking place on 28 occasions which is enough to convince the combined 53 (T)KO finishes will hold up as history has proven time and time again.  Smart money is on seeing one of these fighters add one more fireworks filled KO to their resume and we could easily see KO of the night honours handed out following this one!!

Co-Main Event - 205 lbs Trent Kirbs vs Tim Smith

In our Co Main Event of the evening we see a LHW fight between 2 fighter both on a role as Trent Kirbs continues his path back to greatness in Sydney following wins at AXF '5 & '7.  Having now gone over 14 months without tasting defeat Kirbs brings to the cage with him a varied attack showing he is willing to go whereever it is needed to come out victorious.  Opposing Trent is Tim Smith who comes in on a 3 fight winning streak however has been idle since late February.  Will rust shine through on this one and prevent Smith from continuing his winning ways or will his apparent Primary advantage overcome the rust and lead him to victory.   Smith has seen his share of talented fighters and overcome their abilities to come out on top whereas Kirbs has faced his share of fighters possibly in the twilight of their careers and also young hungry fighters during his stay with this company when under the banner of Extreme-MMA.  Those on the outside looking in will say they feel the disadvantage Kribs faces in both Muay Thai and Wrestling could be his undoing however he has shown in the past that what looks good on paper does not always translate in the same terms when the ref shouts "fight"  This one could prove to be Fight of the Night and those fans who will be in attendance are surely very excited to see it play out!

265 lbs Leonard Christopher vs Giordano Bruno

Next up we see a battle that will see a couple of fighters who are just starting to hit their stride as they enter the prime of their careers.  Both these guys are looking to springboard off this fight and find the W column following a loss for Bruno and a draw for Christopher.  Christopher comes in as the shorter fighter giving Bruno a slight reach advantage as he also enjoys a Primary skill advantage.  One thing that stands out in the lead up to this one is the fact that during fight week and during the open workouts Christopher has shown a tendancy to be less then in favor of his own abilities.  Even though he has enjoyed success through out his career he prefers to drag his feet and drown in his own sorrows rather then be proud and confident in his abilities.   On the other side Bruno seems pumped and ready to get back into the win column and earn his first victory under the AXF umbrella.   Both fighters have shown the ability to end fights violently and I am here to announce this one will be no different.

265 lbs Shane Del Rosario vs El Pintos

In our next matchup we return once again to the 265 lbs division as Shane Del Rosario takes on venteran El Pintos.  Del Rosario made his debut with AXF at AXF 5 when he made quick work of Ben Knope finishing him by way of KO halfway through round 1.  Shane enters the fight having won 8 of his 10 Pro fights with (T)KO finishes having seen the 3rd round only twice in his career meanwhile El Pintos makes his return to an AXF cage following a Fight of the Night performance @ AXF '6 just 2 weeks ago in what was a very hard fought Draw versus fellow HW Leonard Christopher.   Pintos is a veteran of 17 Pro fights yet is still looking for the right formula to see him win more then he has lost, currently standing in at 8-8-1.   His 10 month absence from the cage could very well have been what was needed.   Does Pintos have another FOTN in him or will Del Rosario continue with his KO supremecy,  we will certainly find out for sure coming up tonight!

205 lbs Walter White vs Julio El Toro

Our final matchup from the main card sees 2 LHW fighters looking to find the winning ways that will vault them up the rankings on AXF's roster.  Walter White has really been struggling recently seeing only 2 victories in his past 8 trips into the cage while Julio El Toro is only slightly better with 2 wins iin his past 6 fights.  White holds a slight advantage in the striking game over El Toro however he has also shown the slightly weaker chin having seen his lights put out on 8 occasions during his career versus only 3 for El Toro.   Where White shows a slight weakness, he makes up for with 1 KO victory more then Julio and we do not expect this one to last very long as this match up screams KO of the Night loud and clear!!

Well folks thats all the time we have but here is a quick listing of our other fights on this action packed event...
