CanCage 4 (17 June 2012) Preview

Event Preview: CanCage 4
Canberra Cage Fighter
2012-06-17, Sydney, Paddy O'Malley's - Sydney
Author:

The second time Canberra Cage Fighter has had a full fight card, and what a beauty we have in line. We have gone back to Paddy O’Malley’s this Sunday, to ensure we can fit more of our fans into the venue. So with that said, let’s get onto the fights, and the predictions.

265+lbs – Saxon Hynes v Pablo Sol - Prediction: Hynes by Decision
Both of these fighters have changed divisions with the closing down of the 265lbs division, and while Saxon “TheSaxon” Hynes fought for the title in 265lbs division and lost, Pablo “The Saint” Sol was training hard, and now holds a Brown Belt in BJJ. Unfortunately for Sol, Hynes does him in most other aspects of MMA, including Wrestling, Muay Thai and Boxing ability. The big concern for Hynes is whether he can get his body healthy enough to participate at 100%. The reason I say this, is he has had trouble with bleeding ever since he was cut badly in CCF #2 (06 June 2012)

145lbs – Carl Chan v Juan Ramirez - Prediction: Ramirez by Submission
This is the rebound fight for both of these men. Carl “Jackie” Chan was beaten for the title at CCF #1 (03 June 2012) while “Angel” Juan Ramirez lost the Number One contender fight at CCF #2 (06 June 2012). So time for redemption, and Chan will have to put all his Muay Thai skills forward, keep to the outside and hurt Ramirez that way. Ramirez on the other hand will be trying to take it to the mat as soon as possible and let his wonderful Wrestling ability shine through.

205lbs – Jaxon Bailey v Roman The Raptor - Prediction: Bailey by Decision
“Nightmare” Jaxon Bailey(2-3-0) is back in the octagon, after losing his title fight in CCF #1 (03 June 2012). This fight will be a stand up slug fest, with both these fighters being Strong in Muay Thai. Bailey’s experience should shine through and get his career back on track.

170lbs – Luke Lazzarino v Nicholis Nabavian - Prediction: Lazzarino by Decision
“Lucky Luke” Luke Lazzarino holds the title for this division, and I can not see him relinquishing it any time soon.  This will be Muay Thai (Lazzarino) verse BJJ (Nicholis “Nice Nose” Nabavian), and one manager’s loyalties divided, as both fighters, fight for Pela Fella

205lbs – Eric Draven v Gil Gilbert - Prediction: Gilbert by Submission
Gil “Gilly” Gilbert has focus for just one thing. A title shot in the not to distant future. Standing in his way, is “Destruction” Eric Draven, who has had to wait a long time for this day to arrive. The reason for the delay is being contracted to fight in the wrong weight division. However he has put his spare time to good use in the gym, and will want to prove the wait was worth it to his fans. Unfortunately for Draven, I believe he will have to wait for another bout to get his first win on the board, as Gilbert continues to dominate anyone who gets into the octagon with him.

145lbs – Brett Dongalletta v Ben Doon - Prediction: Dongalletta by Decision
With both Brett “The Don” Dongalletta’s wins coming via Decision, and Ben “The Package” Doon’s only bout being a loss by Decision, I think the trend will continue. This will be Doon’s first fight in this division, as he struggled to strip enough weight in time for CCF #2 (06 June 2012) and was involved with a No Contest. He has struggled with injury since prior to joining CCF, and lets hope he can shake those issues, as he seems to have a bright future in front of him, just not in this bout

135lbs – Ray Richardson v Don Taskme - Prediction: Richardson by Decision
In this bout we see Ray “Razor” Richardson defend his title, against Don “DaDom” Taskme. Unfortunately this appears to be a very one sided affair, but that is only if Richardson gets inside and uses his remarkable Wrestling abilities. But once he takes it to the ground he will have to be careful of Taskme, who is quite handy in the skill of BJJ, and can back that up with his strong Boxing abilities. Being a crowd favourite, I think the fans will get Richardson over the line in this one.

185lbs – Frank Stam v Brutus Maximus - Prediction: Stam by Decision
This shows all the signs of being the Fight of the Night. Frank “Hammer” Stam with his Muay Thai and Wrestling verse “Rude Head” Brutus Maximus with his Boxing and BJJ. I feel Maximus is still letting his last fight loss at CCF #2 (06 June 2012) get into head, instead of concentrating on this upcoming bout. No matter what happens, I think both fighters will come out of this one, broken, requiring a good stint on the sidelines, while the injuries heal.

185lbs – Ricky Winter v AJ March (Title) - Prediction: Winter by TKO
People are starting to wonder, Who can beat this freak of nature that is Ricky “The Answer” Winter(4-0-0). It appears quite simple really. He is remarkable with his fists in a stand up slug fest, with his boxing background, so the way to beat him, is to not get hit by those thundering punches. Easier said then done, YES, however this should be a good match up, with “The Monster” AJ March beign able to use his height advantage, and throw kicks out, to keep Winter from punching holes through him. March will probably be seeing the Stars from his entrance music just before this fight gets stopped, as Winter is a Machine.

135lbs – Bruno Malfacine v Calil Ramos - Prediction: Malfacine by TKO

Bruno Malfacine (10-2-0) can not be beaten by “The Pitbull” Calil Ramos. This will be Ramos’ last fight in Australia, with his deportation papers showing up. Unfortunately he was involved in the other No Contest fight at CCF #2 (06 June 2012), so he knows the frustration the Malfacine went through on the night. The only way Malfacine will lose this fight, is if he trips over on the way to the cage, and cracks his own head open.
