Infinity Welterweight Title Tournament Opening round Preview
Hello again Infinity fight fans, Douche McBaggins here yet again to preview the Final Title Tourny showdown. Welterweight will conclude the series of tournaments for the opening round festivities.
Dont you worry though the Semi Finals will kick off next week with the Middleweights.
Lets take a sneak peek at the eight 170 pounders vying for a shoot at the Welterweight title.
4. Maddox Rayburn (3-2-0) vs 5. Randy Poffo (3-0-0)
Kicking things off we have the #4 and #5 seeds squaring off. Maddox "Mad Dog" Rayburn is a Slaughterhouse vet with all 3 of his victories ending in the very first round by way of Knock Out. Rayburn is a Heavy Handed fast paced striker who may look to rely on his Muay Thai for this bout. His opponent Randy Poffo is a perfect 3-0 thus far in his early career on the QFC Circuit. He has a very balanced skill set and like Maddox is very Dangerous with his KO Power.
3. Lance Kilkenny (5-4-0) vs 6. Silvan Neadue (4-4-0)
Next up in the 3 vs 6 matchup, we will see a striker vs grappler scenario. Lance Kilkenny is a great striker with all 5 finishes ending in the first round. The former Ultimate Pit Fighting (260K+ ID) made his Infinity debut back in December as he disposed of Xander Graves in only 1 minute and 11 seconds. Sylvain is making his Infinity debut in this tournament, the Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu has 3 submission victories to his name. Neadue has a great ground game but he is shaky on the feet, if it stays standing it could be a long night for him.
2. Hanson Recall (11-6-0) vs 7. Harry Angstrom (9-3-0)
In the third bout of the tournament we have are two most experienced fighters in the field. Hanson Recall is a Ironman with a Iron chin, taking 7 out of his 11 wins by Unanimous Decision. Hanson is a exciting fighter who is coming over from the Island. Angstrom is a submission specialist with 6 wins ending in a Tap out. Harry has had decent runs in UPF and MMA Gods, Maybe Infinity will be the place where he truly shines.
1. Eduard Melkonyan (6-2-0) vs 8. Andrew Smith (6-9-0)
Last but not least we have the always intriguing 1 vs 8 matchup. Eduard "Big Axper" Melkonyan is a two time Rag Tag Fight Leauge welterweight champ. He is also very well rounded fighter with good subs and Lethal Leg kicks. He faces off with Andrew Smith a do or die style of fighter who has only had 3 out of 15 fights make it out of the first round. Smith could be the biggest underdog in all of the Tournaments combined, what a Rocky story it would be for him to win this one.
This is going to be awesome night of fights for everyone in attendance. Infinity is to Helsinki what Pride was too Japan, awesome org with awesome fans set in a even awesomer country. After tonights event i am going to have to up my liquor dosage to prepare myself for the semi's, dont you worry though i got this.
