Organization: Cage Fights Australia (CFA)

As Sydney enters a week in which its weather is finally faring better than other states such as Qld with nonstop rain and the continued drudgery of a weather system that can’t get it straight we the fans and crowd gather to see a contest put on by a great organisation under pressure. As management waivers with the possibility that the fighters and managers just sometimes create a whining pressure that becomes very ho hum and not worth the effort, the mail went out for a person or persons to take over the reins and keep the ship sailing. It would be sad to see such a great match maker and organizational boss leave the helm and it would only be wished upon that if this unfortunate possibility became a reality that someone who had some similarity in true unbiased management would step in. However as we see the fighters get ready we pay tribute to Anderson Silva who overcame the mouth of Sonnen with a swift knee bringing about his downfall, we go WTF with Forrest as a great fighter again listen to the voice in his head saying “Run Forrest Run”, we see a unbelievable contender for Silva emerge as Munoz get crushed by Weidman as he now goes to 9-0, We wonder about the Olympics as it approaches and the unbeatable speed freak Usain Bolt beaten was beaten twice by Yohan Blake in the 100 and 200 qualifying events. Then lastly we say farewell and pay tribute to a fallen Soldier SAS Sergeant Blaine Diddams.
Yes the SAS base more of the unarmed combat training of the Krav Maga style, yet each of us that has trained will always know of a centre that has it its ranks ex-military, instructors that have seen combat and as a country we should always know that men such as Sergeant Diddams should be remembered as men that have a true warrior spirit and are the modern day gladiators and the only people that should ever be called Hero’s
With a minutes silence the Hyashi lounge fallen deadly silent and then with the lifting of the lights out comes the champion….

205 lbs. 3 x 5 Rounds Pence Apene (7-1) v Kangeroo Poo (6-4) 205 lbs. title
Meeting for their third fight in what can only be called a title fight that will surely see the champ extend his run and title hold. Poo has the great achievement of holding a Purple belt and yet falling at 43 submission attempts in a fight and on two meetings with the Champ has not landed a single strike, or completed any technique of any sort. If by some miracle he closes his eyes and lands some sort of Hail Mary shot in the dark it will be the most unlikely of victories the CFA has ever seen.
Well with all the fan fair and lights the display of antics and show boating from Poo at least his sponsors got some air time because like his antic his ability was all show. Starting with some wild strikes that were hitting nothing but air Apence could only look on as Poo was surely anything but a contender.
With some wild flurry gone Apence took Poo down straight into the mount threw half a dozen strike most of which hit and other than a vocal stop turtling up Poo, or was it more what is this Shit? Then Apence landed a flush strike knocking Poo out. Yes well that was……Hmmmm
Winner Pence Apence (8-1) over Kangeroo “I can’t even spell my name right” Poo (6-5) by KO (strikes) 1:21 Round 1 and winning the KO of the night.

205 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds Shane Turnham (6-3-1) v Grisha Kamenov (6-6)
Kamenov coming of two losses has surely lost his bundle. As he has thrown all ability out the window and not only overtrained turning up to the weigh-ins looking more like he was in a communicable disease ad, being that he was drawn In the face barely had the energy to get on the scales and looked like he had the energy and morale of a terminally ill patient. Turnham is sure to grab the waif of an opponent and thump the living daylights out of him.
Did we even need to hear the ring of the bell to know the fight was over before it began? Turnham landed immediately cutting Kamenov, clichéd, got a takedown, and then proceeded into throwing punched into what can only be described as a corpse until the referee thought well enough of the beef pounding and called the fight.
With Kamenov not even mounting any form of defence this wasn’t a fight it was a give me.
Winner Shane Turnham (7-3-1) over Grisha “The Corpse” Kamenov (6-7) by TKO (Strikes) 1:59 Round 1.

205 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds Johnny Crackcorn (3-2) v King Destroyer (1-0)
Well if one steroid Leprechaun was not enough how about two. With both men looking eye to eye, this is absurd in the light heavy weight division as they both top out at 150 cm or a whopping or the all mighty 4 foot 11. Being too big for the Dwarf fighting championships by a graceful 1 inch these two men have hones their skills from the Pygmy colony pig wrestling days and are now trying their luck with MMA. Crackcorn who has only really had three fights that he can remember (you see his last two losses happened so fast and so viciously the doctors said he may never remember them) well that’s his excuse anyway is looking to get another win and also end the unblemished career of Destroyer, but as Destroyer seems to have been over zealous in his training he might be a tall order as Crackcorn has shown that he can fell even the normal sized opponents with a swift blow.
Well with an unexpected turn the bell rang and there was nothing to be had with any stand up. Crackcorn went for an immediate takedown and after some effort managed to get Destroyer down. Once on the ground it was like watching a thumb war as the little men rolled around trying to gain control. With not everything going his way and fending off a couple of counter submission Crackcorn finally whipped out a solid Kimura and it was all over in under a minute.
Winner Johnny Crackcorn (4-2) over King Destroyer (1-1) by Submission (Kimura) 0:52 Round 1

170 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds Tyler Durden (5-1) v Denis Andreas (5-2)
Wow for a man who has only lost one fight and is on a 4 win tear Durden looked like he had just watched an episode of underbelly with Matt Newton as the lead. My god talk about demoralizing and wanting to slit your wrist, Durden there is counselling for that it’s called PORN! Get your mind back in the game son its ok he has left Australia.
So if morale goes anything towards who will win Andreas is looking to stroll right over his suicidal opponent.
Now if its skill well Andreas is looking to utilise his Muay Thai to counter the known heavy and quick hands of Durden and then get the fight on the ground and into an area where Andreas knows he has the measure and dominance over Durden.
As Durden’s only loss has come on the ground and the only weakness shown is that if it hits the ground he can be beaten. That is unless he ends his night early in the change rooms, Durden don’t switch on the TV, known the Australian Television network they will have a re-run of something having a Newton in it, or a Daddo I don’t know what is worse. You have been warned.
As the fight started Durden came out swinging and wanting to put some hurt on Andreas as though he was fighting Newton himself. However his strikes were of queue and not finding their range. With the fight turning into a standing war, Andreas seized his moment to grab the plum and use his Muay Thai with just under 2 minutes on the clock
The move proved useful with some telling blows being landed and with a well place knee blood was pouring out of Durden’s upper lip with a flush blow on the jaw not even his mouth guard to stop the full impact. Keeping the clinch and continuing to rain shots into Durden, the first round ended with one round in the book for Andreas.
Round 2 started with Durden again coming out and looking to knock Andreas out as the two men circled and traded shot with a cat and mouse battle going back and forth until the close of the round where again Andreas seized the opportune clinch and looked to close out the round strongly. However it was too little too late as Durden had been let back into the fight and a third round would see both men going in one round a piece.
The third round saw Andreas immediately go for his bread and butter clinch only to miss, get hit with a couple of shot, miss again and take a heavy liver shot, and then finally while wincing from the good shot grab his opponent and start to work.
For 4 minutes Durden could not break the clinch and Andreas continued to control and pepper Durden with strikes. Over and over the clock and any chance Durden had faded as he was picked over with the Muay Thai control of Andreas.
Winner Denis Andreas (6-2) over Tyler Durden (5-2) by Unanimous Decision 29:28 on all cards and the fight of the night award.

205 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds Buck Nekkid (0-0) v Jia O Connor (0-0)
Well not is known about these two debut fighters. Both are keen and looking to start their professional careers with a win. As 18 year old they have only been training the amateur circuit and have both shown they have potential on the ground and although quite even across the board a notable Muay Thai credential goes to Nekkid. Let’s see who has the pedigree to take it all the way.
Starting hard and fast it looked like an early night for Nekkid within seconds he was hit with a combination that had his cheek opened up from a combination and his world spinning. With Nekkid scrambling and looking to clinch O’Connor then grabbed a takedown and looked to show off his ground game. However with some good defence Nekkid defended 4 submission and closed out the round a loser but still in the fight.
Round 2 was as though the first round had a reset, with O’Connor believing he was on a winning he gained the immediate takedown failed with a submission, saw the referee stand the fight up, got another quick takedown and Nekkid again defended another 2 submission. Again the round closed out with Nekkid the loser but still a round to go anything could happen.
Nekkid came out looking to do anything but bet taken to the ground and although not keeping his distance and unsuccessful trying for 4 clinches in a row could only watch as he was again slammed into the mat and defending off his back again.
Showing he had the defensive skills Nekkid survived another 8 submission and ended the fight with 15 submission denials when you don’t throw a single strike and can only end with a defensive statics you aren’t going to win the fight.
Winner Jia O’Conner (1-0) over Buck Nekkid (0-1) by unanimous decision 30-27 on all cards.

185 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds David Baumann (1-3) v Lucjan Anielski (1-3)
Two combatants that have seen their fair share of disappointment face of to see who has the heart to overcome adversity. But like so many others tonight Baumann looks like he has overtrained and been overcooked. He has shown that he is ready to fight by signing on to be here but some may ask whether it was for the chance to get some a free room and a shower at the hospital as he gets destroyed.
However, there is also the high probability that he just want that slim chance of gaining victory through a wild shot and thus he can walk the crowd afterwards finding some poor lass that will buy him drink and take him home.
With great hands and known wrestling it won’t be an easy task for Anielski to dispatch Baumann but with the added energy and ability to stand without holding on to something the money is on Anielski to end Baumann’s night early.
And that is exactly what happened with the bell sounding a start to the fight it was like watching someone do a bag drill. A kick some movement around a few more strikes move out and blam the ending blow. All over red rover Baumann
Winner Lucjan Anielski (2-3) over David “Bag Man” Baumann (1-4) by KO (strikes) at 0:30 Round 1

185 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds Boring Sausage (1-0) v Aradon Ilban (1-2)
Sausage who is coming in undercooked against Ilban in the Boxing and Wrestling categories also looks well and truly malnourished against his opponent as his slight height advantage does not bode well when he is outweighed by close to 10 pounds.
However with both fighters showing that they have class on the ground with Ilban winning a fight of the night submission victory to turn his professional career into the winning column  and Sausage gaining his first professional win at the Quick Fighting Championships by submission. This could well turn into a not event in the stand up as both fighters go to what they know as see who has the greater potential on the ground.
Now that is exactly what happened with Ilban stuffing a Sausage take down then gaining a counter takedown it was then a BJJ chess match as both men turned it into a back and forth contest. With only reprisal coming as the referee stood the fight up half way through the first and then Ilban again got the advantage with another takedown and it was a BJJ Clinique as Ilban ended round 1 with a tick in the box.
Round 2 was a carbon copy of one with Ilban getting the takedown and looking to submit his opponent, the fight was stood up and then again went straight back to ground. With Sausage showing some class in his defence and mounting some attempts himself Ilban was slowly grinding him down with every strike hitting its mark and stopping almost all movement of sausage while still going for triple the submission attempts.
Ilban was just pouring it on when as the round drew to a close he finally he saw a glimmer of opportunity and grabbed an arm triangle which perfectly switched to an armbar and had Sausage with no way out and forced to tap.
Winner Aradon Ilban (2-2) over Boring Sausage (1-1) by Submission (Armbar) 4:45 round 2

185 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds Oliver Collins (3-3) v Mitch Thome (3-4)
Both men are in a need of a desperate win and the determination of these morally hollow men is about to come to the surface as it is a seemingly do or die situation for their careers.
Thome having started a stellar career on a 3 win burst has found the going tough as of late with a 4 loss streaking disaster and has shown to lack the focus on the ground with 3 Submission losses. This does not equate very well for him as he is pitted against a Purple Belt in Collins who himself is finding the going tough with a double loss and wanting to bring about a change in his situation.
With a good height and reach advantage felt by Thome along with his good hands and wrestling he will be looking to keep the fight in his domain and ensure his losses stop. But with Collins showing suburb Muay Thai whether he can cut Thome down could be the make and break of this fight.
Either way both men need to change their fortunes otherwise they will surely be looking for a new career path.
Well for two men that have been wayward in the losing department they surely put on a show as they both tried to save their careers.
With a hard fought affair spanning three rounds Collins was far superior in the striking department as Thome looked to though a 20th of the strikes of Collins and could not hit with any, While Collins was having good success in standing and stopping a large majority of the Thome takedowns.
When on the ground it was again all Collins as he succeeded in stopping 7 submission attempts while landing strikes improving his position and attempting a couple of submission as well.
However both men could only struggle and not provide a finish in the fight as they went the distance however Thome would have clearly known he was notching his 5 successive losses.
Winner Oliver Collins (4-3) over Mitch Thome (3-5) by Unanimous Decision 30-27 on all cards.

205 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds Ng Mui (0-0) v Nigel Clark (1-1)
Making his debut Mui is pitted against a known defensive ground fighter in Clark. Clark is his first outing defended the high level combination strikes of his opponent an amazing 22 times as not a single blow hit him and he easily clinched the submission victory.
However having seen the opponent Tex Bighorn training at the CFA gym it is no wonder that he may have defended the combination he threw 5 times but once one hit it was all over as he suffered a heavy loss.
Mui does not seem to have anywhere near the power to carry out such a dominant win and with a severely lacking ground game it could be along night for him.
However with the advantage of seeing Clark at the weigh ins like oh so many others he is well and truly not at a level that would be optimal if he want to continue a career which includes wins.
Mui knows he is lacking the skills to be primed for a dominant win but at least he has shown up ready to fight and with a tank of energy to bring about a debut win.
With a definite game plan and looking to assert his Muay Thai on Clark Mui went for the immediate clinch where he looked to connect with any strike possible. Gaining a cut on his opponent in under a minute from an elbow, then losing the clinch and again getting back Mui was relentless in his striking and the defence of Clark was ripped apart and with another glancing elbow just after two minutes Mui could smell victory as Clarks face was covered in blood.
With the cut causing Clark some issues Mui delivered a Knee to Clarks Head causing him to wobble then as he avoid some elbows is again jerked down into another Knee as he crumples to the floor Mui load up a haymaker only to realise Clark is already out and does not humiliate his opponent. Called a TKO this was an obvious KO victory and Debut win.
Winner Ng “The Nun “Mui (1-0) over Nigel Clark (1-2) by KO (Knee) at 2:21 Round 1.

170 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds
Jack Meadows (3-0) v Buddi Zoom (5-2)

Finishing up the nights fights are two men they should have been listed well up there. Both of these men came prepared and primed for battle with all their training stowed away and with a full energy take to take them the whole distance.
Meadows an undefeated man on a mission has the tough ask of overcoming a new addition to the CFA fighting circuit. The newly arrived Zoom who recently moved to Australia after a two loss career setback has the position of outclassing Meadows ever so slightly in only his Muay Thai and important wrestling arena.
However with Zoom suffering both his losses on the ground the fact he is outweighed by nearly 15 pounds and has a distinct disadvantage in height may play a deciding factor in whether he can get fight to where he has an advantage.
A close fight to call with both fighters having something to prove and an obvious need to win, even though the reason may be somewhat different.
Round 1 saw these men go balls to the wall as Zoom showed how and why he was on a winning streak with a quick takedown, but all of a sudden seeing flashes of the submission losses as he was not only going for submission but defending them. With a fight that had both fighters up and down like a yoyo it was a more even affair that the judges would have you believe as both fighters went for but could not seel 4 submissions and gained 3 takedowns on each other.
However Round two saw Zoom gain an immediate takedown that landed him in the mount where he unleashed the best ground and pound of the night and with his opponent rocked seized the opportunity to get a submission. But with Meadows under the gun and looking to regain his senses he managed to defend another 4 submission until he was finally caught with an armbar.
Winner Buddi Zoom (6-2) over Jack Meadows (3-1) by Submission (Armbar) at 1:33 Round 1 and winning fight Submission of the Night.
