Event Preview: GDL 58: 265+ Championship
GAMMA: Development League (370k+)

Welcome to the unofficial start of the new GDL era. Friday, September 19th, will be our first full card and we’d like to thank you for being active and being patient. Don’t forget to visit our Merch Partner, Voodoo, for all your workout and laundry needs. https://www.mmatycoon.com/nutritionpublic.php?ncid=4660 Also don’t forget to take a look at our official bookmaker, Hoolahan’s Billiards whose slogan is, “We may not get the odds right, but that’s a good thing for you”. https://www.mmatycoon.com/bookmakerpublic.php?bid=8554

Undercard:

Buck Rogers vs. Tyson Cover – Cover is a big underdog here against the more experienced, Rogers, but as his fight against Thor Haraldson showed, one punch is all this brawler needs. Rogers, meanwhile, bounced back beautifully after a tough 3-fight losing streak and is looking to jump back into the higher echelon of the 205 weight class.

Ricardo Gonzales vs Drizzt Do Urden – New manager, same results? Gonzales has the second most experience of all GDL fighters, but has been bounced around after some poor showings. He’s hoping new manager, Fran Queza, helps him turn the corner. Urden is .500 in GDL, going W-L-W-L in his four matches. It’s been three months since he last fought; will he show any rust?

Pure Striker vs Snapple Grapple – What was the GM thinking when he booked this fight? The 145 lb weight class is thin so a win by either fighter will push him closer to a title shot, however we don’t envy manager, Donnie Jackson, who has to cheer for both corners. Will the striker or the grappler overcome? (note … please lord let me know if you receive a fight offer which includes both your fighters. Not a mistake I want to make again)

Shane Stead vs Bruenor Battlehammer – Coming off a loss to the 185 champion, Stead is looking for revenge against the inconsistent Dwarven King. If Battlehammer can stay off the ground, this would be a huge boost to his morale.

Patrick Bateman vs Frankie Griggs – Griggs is one of the hottest fighters in GDL, slugging his way to four straight victories in impressive fashion. He would love a shot at the 170 title, but he has to get past The Brooklyn Brawler first. Bateman’s goal is to keep it on the ground and avoid Griggs’ heavy fists.

Marlon John vs Alosla Avar – A rematch from GDL 49’s Main Event. Both are looking to rise to the top of the 205 weight class, the winner here almost assuredly getting a title shot on their next fight. John took the last fight, dominating all three rounds and winning a unanimous decision.

Philipp Tyurin vs Gunnar Hamundarson – A battle for the inaugural 265+ Title. Hamundarson was a last-minute replacement and, after going the full three rounds in GDL 56, how much will he have left in the gastank? He’ll have to hope to be at his best to defeat the undefeated Tyurin, a fighter who really hasn’t been tested in his first five GDL fights.

Yodsingkhun Sitsongrit vs Anders Hansson – Co-headlining GDL 58, the final fight of the night is a rematch from GDL 25 when Hansson was the 155 champion. Sits took him the distance, in a unanimous 5-round fight, but a lot has changed since. A win and you get a title shot; a loss? Well neither want to think about that.
