BFT 130 The Dome 2 Preview
Heavyweight Title - Hagen "The Barbarian" Germanicus (13-4) [BFT 13-4] vs Pete "War Machine" Tippin (7-5) [BFT 7-4]
"The Barbarian" gets the honors of being the first to attempt to defend his title. It was 3 months ago when he acquired and defended his title for the first time against Laguna Lunaris and Joseph Mageramsky, respectively. His last fight was a Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night winner. Having been undefeated in his last 6, he's looking to keep impressive and finish fights, like 4 of his 5 last victories.
The "War Machine" is looking to stop Germanicus in his tracks. Winning his last 3 in a row by impressive finishes, he wants to keep the wins rolling. He has what it takes to finish a fight on the feet or on the ground. He's got 3 in a row and 4 of his last 5 are wins. His last win was an impressive one by cuts against Joseph Mageramsky. Using the momentum of that fight, he wants to show the world that this guy can be slowed down.
Prediction: I have "The Barbarian" for this one. He's got what it takes to keep the fight on the feet and finish it there. Germanicus by RD 2 Knockout.
Welterweight Title - "The Kraken" Jermaine Choake (13-6) [BFT 5-1] vs Pat Small (11-1) [BFT 6-1]
The Welterweight champ last took to the cage in a Superfight at the last Dome event against the Middleweight champ. The two of them had an interesting fight that found "The Kraken" on the losing end of a Unanimous Decision. Before that fight, he was riding a 6 fight winning streak with 5 of those fights getting bonuses. He's looking to break away from the judges and score a finish like he did against Igor Wietrzny.
Pat Small is looking to break down the champ and take the belt from him. On a 5 fight winning streak, this guy is riding on some momentum. He's got two finishes in that streak, both receiving Knockout of the Night bonuses. These fights were not against easy opponents either, like Abu Davee and Mikko Takatukka. He's only got a single loss to his name, and that was against the tough Akihito Tatsuhiko Jr.
Prediction: Striker vs Grappler. Quite simply, Pat Small does not have the takedown defense to keep this fight standing. And I believe that "The Kraken" can take a limb on the ground. Choake by RD 2 SUB.
Lightweight Title - "Mace" Enrico Mazzarri (10-0-1) [BFT 9-0-1] vs "Pride of house" Hussak Claw (11-5) [BFT 3-1]
Next up, we have our Lightweight head honcho. "Mace" is the newest champ, but make no mistake, he is not going to be an easy one to dethrone. In eleven bouts, he is undefeated. He holds 6 knockouts of 10 victories. All but one of those ended in the first round. What about the draw on the record? It was to "Fishbowl," a hard opponent as it is, and he finished things with him in his next fight with a first round submission. After winning the title against Kuroda Atsushi, it's hard to see what will slow this guy down.
Claw may not have been in BFT for long, but man this guy has looked pretty strong. After his initial plunge in against Johnny Woo, which was a Unanimous decision loss, he strung 3 wins together. Moreover, they were all submission finishes. His last one was a first rounder against "Fishbowl." With a 90.9% of his wins being by submission, this dude not only knows how to submit his opponents, but is actively looking for it and setting them up. But the question is, can he bring the first loss against the champ?
Prediction: I got the champ again. "Mace" can keep things standing and throw a solid one two at any time that can end it. Mazzarri by RD 4 knockout.
Co-Main - Middleweight Title - Akihito "Rikiya" Tatsuhiko Jr. (19-7) [BFT 12-5] vs Amir "Scorpion" Khan (8-5) [BFT 6-4]
We've made our way to the Middleweight champ now. He is riding a 4 fight winning streak, which includes 2 victories over Antoine Wallace, a belt winning performance against Efreitor Peter, and a Superfight victory over Jermaine Choake. I would think that victory would be special to him since most of his career was at 170, and after 2 failed attempts at getting the title, he earned it. He's had a long road there, but man he's ready to get his first title defense under his belt.
The "Scorpion" has gone 3-0 in his last 3. All of them were in the first round of the fight. In fact, Khan has only ever gone to the judge’s decision twice, with results being 1-1. This guy knows what he has works and why fix something if it ain't broken. He definitely can fight on the feet, but it's also clear that if he was given the choice, he'd love to pummel his opponent's face into the ground with some nice ground and pound or make him pay with a tight submission.
Prediction: Shall we call the night "Champ's Night?" I just dont't see Khan's skills, as good as they are, being good enough to take down Tatsuhiko. He just has too many skills to finish the fight, as he did against Choake. Tatsuhiko Jr. by UD.
Main Event - Light Heavyweight Title - "The Dime" Ken Tentheros (10-2-1) [BFT 10-2-1] vs Jake the Snake (15-4) [BFT 12-3]
And now for our main event... A TITLE FIGHT. The champ here is Ken Tentheros. His nickname should be the award winning machine. He holds 10 'Of the Night' awards in 13 performances. And with 7 of 10 victories ending in submission, it's hard to tell what he'll be looking for in this fight. He earned the title by fighting Tap Out, and defended it 3 times against Kahoohalphala and Riven.
The man he is facing is none other than Hall of Famer Jake the Snake. Since dropping down from heavyweight, he went 2-1. All of the fights were ended by way of knockout. But he is no stranger to the Light Heavyweight Title. He had it at BFT 3 after beating Vitor Belfort. It wasn't long until he made his way to Heavyweight and made a tear in the division. He's looking to get back a title that was once his.
Prediction: I'm going to stick with the theme of the night and call it for the champ. I just think that Tentheros has what it takes to join the small club of people to have a victory over Jake. And I think he'll be the first to hold him on the losing end of a decision. Tentheros by UD.
