Sucker Punch Pro Series 107 - Event Preview

Event Preview: Sucker Punch Pro Series 107
Sucker Punch Pro Series
2022-01-02, Tokyo, Tokyo Bowl
Author:Hare Rumpler

The first event of 2022 is upon us folks!  Not two days into the New Year and Sucker Punch Pro Series is coming at you with SPPS 107 and a Featherweight Title Fight lined up for all our maniacal fans!  I’m Hare Rumpler and as usual I’ll be here with my buddy and analyst, Donkey “Dan” as we prepare for a night of intense action back east at the Tokyo Bowl in Japan!

And with the New Year comes a slightly new approach to things.  As we all know, change is inevitable and in order to grow you have to evolve.  In order for us to evolve, we need to have the room to allow the makeup of the org to adjust and grow.  Grow and shrink, both at the same time, in some ways.  What am I saying here?  Nothing that anybody who’s ever been in orgs long term hasn’t seen and known to be true before.  Sucker Punch Pro Series is currently at just under 180 fighters on the roster.  The reality is that if we run two cards per week max (any more than that and you take significant losses in rating for the individual cards) then over the course of a 28 day run we can at most run 8 cards.  Or 160 fighters total.

I think the implication of that should be clear here folks…and that’s that it’s time for us to start trimming the roster slightly and weeding out those fighters who have just been skating along.  To the tune of about 3 fighters per division on average.  Will this always mean that the fighters with the worst records, least hype or lowest overall skills are the ones cut?  No.  A lot of factors will come into play, including momentum, direction, potential in the long run, etc.  But yes, if you fighter has been losing, to the tune of four or more over a five fight period say, or he’s significantly lower skilled than his peers at his age and ID, there is a good chance the eyes are on him for a potential release.  And it may not matter if a new contract was recently extended with signing bonus…that’s just what we here at Sucker Punch consider “cost of doing business”.  That all said…let’s move on to tonight’s action!

This will be an evening of the Middleweights and below as no Light Heavyweights or Heavyweights are present on the card this evening. Instead the Undercard will be bookended by Welterweight matches with Feather, Middle and Lightweight action all tucked in the middle for you fine folks!  Then, as we get into the Main Card, we’ll have back to back Lightweight action to kick off the first two fights.  Smack dab in the middle, our last fight before the Main Events, will be our second of three Featherweight bouts on the evening, a big (little really) time showdown between Jake Drake and Apophis Kalmisto!

For the Main Action on the evening we’ll have two of the biggest names at Sucker Punch, and frankly two of the bigger fighters on this card, as Middlweights Jacob Parker and John Doe get in there in an attempt to prove that they’re still a huge factor in the division going forward!  Capping things off will be that Title Fight we talked about and you can believe that Yabai Alliance-mates Sitsongrit and Baptiste won’t be holding anything back despite being led by two of the finest managers in Yabai!

All of that coming at you in just about eight hours or so folks!  We’re gonna jump in and get a closer look at each of these fights in just a moment, right after we get a word from our merchandise and sponsor here!

When you think about training your fighters, one of the biggest concerns is keeping them in the gym and actively training, am I right? And you can’t do that if they have to be stopping to recover and rest for sessions here and sessions there! That is why you need to visit our sponsor, Shadow Warrior Nutrition, and specifically grab some of their Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q. It is literally the best energy loss reduction supplement money can buy and will keep your fighter in the gym training rather than sitting days out resting! Stop on over there today, you will NOT be disappointed!

Now on to the good stuff!  The full preview is up here, enjoy all!
