TR15: WANNA SEE A DEAD BODY? PREVIEW

Event Preview: TR15: Wanna See A Dead Body?
Thibodeaux's Rogues
2022-02-05, The Island, Hard Knocks - The Island
Author:Maurice Simmons

Oh shit! Uncle Thibs has brought out the big guns out now. This card is the most stacked as any Island card can be, I don't even like writing an intro for this preview I just want to get straight to the fights so let's goo!

Proudly brought to you by Island Boys Nutrition.

MAIN EVENT: Wilson Fisk (4-0) vs Uncle Nasty (3-0)

Super Heavyweight Championship Bout

At the very top of the card we have two behemoths who are very high in the Super Heavyweight rankings of the Island. Both guys have maintained unbeated records thus far but as you all know, only one of then will get to walk away from this fight with their perfect record still intact. Fisk has been on a crazy run, winning all his fights via (T)KO in the first round! Nobody has proven to be able to handle The Kingpin's immense power as he's only needed just a few strikes to destroy chins and render men unconscious. His 9 cm reach advantage will be crucial in this clash of two magnificent strikers. Nasty is another man who's left piles of bodies laying inside that cage on his road to this title fight. He is on a three fight streak, one less than his opponent, and he also has finished all his fights in the first round. Both these guys are probably looking to keep this one standing and on the outside, but Nasty has the wrestling advantage so maybe he could control the clinch. None of them come in with a full morale-o-meter, which is cause for concern for Nasty who's morale is at 90% at best and factors like morale can have a great impact in a fight of evenly matched guys. The clash between #2 and #3 ranked Super Heavyweights on the Island is looking great and I'm very confident that these men will put on a show! Let's goo!

CO-MAIN EVENT: Lesley Dancer (4-0) vs Tobias Berge (3-0)

Lightweight Championship Bout

There has been a debate recently about the dominant fighting style in the lower weight classes. One group insists that only submission specialists thrive in the lower weight classes while strikers do great in the big boy divisions. One group is fighting hard to prove that strikers can rule in whatever weight class provided that they're good enough. This is more than just a title fight, managers will be looking at this fight to get a clue as to what type of fighters to recruit in the lower divisions. This fight will not be the conclusion to the debate however because a lot of factors will play into it's outcome, not just disciplines. Lesley Dancer is a striker with wonderful Muay Thai, respectable wrestling but has a measly BJJ white belt. Tobias Berge on the other hand also has respectable wrestling but holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jui Jitsu. We already know where each of these guys wants to take the fight but with the same level of wrestling it'll be interesting to see who has his way. Dancer has been very successful in wearing down his opponents in the clinch and finishing them off once they escape. But Tobias Berge is a very dangerous man to clinch with because he can pull you down to his guard in an instant. His tough fight against Lech Nowak challenged him in many ways and I had a talk with his wrestling coach and was told that ever since that fight he's been working very hard in the gym. This fight will have you at the edge of your seat I assure you of that so better turn up with your friends and family to witness these two gladiators go to battle!

Island Boy (3-1) vs Adam Cole (3-0)

Heavyweight Championship Bout

Now it doesn't get as evenly matched as this Heavyweight Championship Bout we're about to witness. After stumbling in his debut fight and losing by submission to Trevor Philips, Island Boy has gone on a crazy run since then with two of his three wins being via Knockout in the first round. He's dominated opponents on the outside with no clinching being needed while his opponent has showcased some clinchwork mastery. Adam Cole has won all his fights via KO in the very first round, including an amazing spinning backfist in his debut. If I know something it's that this fight will end by a KO in the first two rounds, no way that these two monsters will be together in the cage for more than ten minutes.

Alex Munhoz (5-0) vs Master Bates (6-0)

Welterweight Championship Bout

Two top fifty p4p beasts in the Island square off tonight for a chance to hold the vacant Thibodeaux's Rogues welterweight title. Alex Munhoz is a submission specialist who's finished four of his five fights via submission in the first round. He has respectable wrestling and maintains a brown belt in Brazilian Jui Jitsu. He also has huge heart which he showed in his QFC fight against Preton where he was rocked in the first round and had his back on the ropes but came back to submit his opponent in round two. Few have been able to stop him from getting a takedown and none have survived being on the ground with him. This is his third fight with us here at TR and the fact that he's already climbed this high up in the rankings just shows how legit the man is. Last time Munhoz fought someone with decent ground ability was against Preton, and you already know how hard he had to fight to get that win, Bates is a different test however. He himself has four wins by submission and one win each by TKO and Decision. So in him we have a guy who can submit your, knock your lights out or toy with you the whole fight. A very dangerous man he is. He is a wonderful wrestler with a purple belt in BJJ, a small disadvantage. His short limbs should make him hard to submit as it will also make it hard for him to close in on Munhoz with getting into his punching range, but Munhoz is not a puncher is he? This will purely be a grappling contest, and since most of you love Russians in MMA I know this is a fight you will not be missing

Kil Bon Hwa (3-0) vs Dan Dinklage (3-0)

Light Heavyweight Championship Bout

The first of five title fights of the evening is between Kil Bon Hwa, who's managed by Action Jackson, a leading member of the supergroup YABAI and Dan Dinklage who's managed by the king of 25 year old fighters Arcalimon the Coach. Now, if you don't know already, these two guy's managers had absolute beasts in the last Island season. Action had Torhte Finlayson and Arcalimon had Noel Diaz and Kazuo Takashi. What the hell am I doing though? This is a fight between Dan Dinklage and Kil Bon Hwa so why the hell am I talking about their managers, my bad guys. Bon Hwa has been on a crazy run here at the company. He's one of the fee fighters who started their careers with us and he's absolutely demolished the opponents he's been given. With strong boxing, superb wrestling, a 30cm reach advantage Bon Hwa is looking impossible to beat in this fight. "Impossible" however is not a word we can use against a fighter trained by Arcalimon. Besides, Dan Dinklage is the shit. Being the midget that he is he has battered men who tower over him and reduced them to scrubs. His short frame makes it very difficult to stop his relentless takedowns. Don't even get me started on his ground and pound, he's just a monster with it and he packs a punch. So striker vs grappler, much like our co-main event except these two will be looking to knock each other out. Let's fucking goo!
