Sucker Punch Pro Series 129 - Full Preview Up!

Event Preview: Sucker Punch Pro Series 129
Sucker Punch Pro Series
2022-03-20, London, Wombley Arena
Author:Hare Rumpler

Welcome back for another Sucker Punch Pro Series preview folks!  With St. Paddy’s day just about 24 hours removed (when we started writing this) we have twenty talented fighters all hoping that the Luck of the Irish has spilled over into London and sticks around for a few days through SPPS 129 as they all prepare to step into the cage at the Wombley Arena on the 20th!  As always, I’m Hare Rumpler and I’ll have my buddy and analyst, Donkey “Dan”, alongside to give you all those delicious picks you’re craving.  As if!

We’ve got everything a fight fan could possibly want on this card coming up folks!  Want Heavyweight, big boy action?  We’ll kick off the evening just for you with a pair of them plus a follow-up fight with the Light Heavyweights as you get not only Daniel Spong and Zygmunt Krol in the opener but also Aleks Kuznetsov and Bjorn Akerfeldt in the follow-up fight!

“But I’m a fan of the ‘skinny boy slapfests’, as Risa or Nati would put it!”, you say?  Ok, then you’ll be happy that Courtial and Wright step in to represent the Featherweights halfway into the Undercard!  But that’s just a short, brief stop as we get right back into the beastly action again after that with a Light Heavyweight bout and then two back to back big boy contests again that take us right into and through the opening fight of the Main Card!

After that the remainder of the Main Card really mixes it  up a bit and we get the mid-range weight classes involved a bit with Arthur Morgan and Jacob Parker heading into the cage for what should be an epic showdown at Middleweight!  One of these two will establish themselves as a fighter to watch as they work to push up the ladder towards the top.  For Parker, that would be a journey back to the title that he knows and loves so well, having been a former two-time champion here, but at the Light Heavyweight division.  So many eyes are watching to see if he can rise through the ranks at Middleweight now!

We’ll also have a duo of Welterweight contests on tap for you as Samuel Sanchez and Darry Curtis bring some intense action to the cage to keep the fans fired up before we get to the Main Events!  Our Co-Main Event will be the second of those two Welterweight fights as the always feisty and dangerous Baldomir Barbosa steps up against unrestricted, unrestrained, relatively new to SPPS Tytus Aleksy.  Aleksy has been with us for four months now and was one of the first unrestricted fighters to join SPPS.  He’s done well running through his unrestricted peers, with three wins over Linewood, Hunt and Mason, but ironically the one man to stop him is our own longtime 355k+ Juan Christiano.  Barbosa, definitely no slouch himself, also has three wins over the past four as he’s defeated Bass, Prodigy and Curtis with only a loss to current Top Contender, Matsuzaka.  The winner of this big fight between Barbosa and Aleksy will earn a title shot so you can expect them to full on bring it at the Wombley folks!

Last but not least, we have our Lightweight Title Fight between Thomas “Tiger” Maeda, who makes his first title defense, and challenger Vinicius Verreira who, despite being somewhat lower in overall skill estimate, has run through the competition of late making it impossible to ignore him for this title opportunity!  Maeda was in the right place at the right time last month as the title became vacant and we needed a relatively worthy competitor for Sukulaku to step in and dance.  Well, Maeda made the very best of that opportunity and for some produced a shocking decision victory to swipe the belt, a full month before we were officially planning to open the belts to the unrestricted crowd! Now that’s what I call seizing the day my friends! And good on him!

Verreira’s on a 7-0 run with five of those wins under current management with Team Harrington!  These wins weren’t over a bunch of scrubs or cans either, with victories coming against Death Minister, Furioto and Cobain.  Yes, Verreira has shown he can take down hard-punching aggressors such as Cobain but also put down elite ground and submission specialists like Furioto, demonstrating his diverse skills and ability to step up to the best!  Man must have some serious hidden intangibles folks!  He had a previous shot at the title under Luc Bourdon, his former manager, all the way back in August of 2020…so this opportunity is a long time coming and not one to be wasted!

Alright, now that we’ve touched on all of that, let’s jump to a word about our sponsor and merchandise partner and get to the detailed stuff!

Our fantastic and respected sponsor is Shadow Warrior Nutrition!   Many of you already know them as the providers of Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q, THE energy loss reduction supplements!  For those of you who aren’t in the know on that, you should be, because this is the way you keep your fighter training more often and not taking sessions off to try to keep his energy above 90%!  If you aren’t using this supplement, hurry over and check them out today, you will not be disappointed!

Now, let's get to it! The full preview is up here:
