Sucker Punch Pro Series - SPPS 191 Preview

Event Preview: Sucker Punch Pro Series 191
Sucker Punch Pro Series
2022-10-08, Los Angeles, LA Memorial Colossuseum
Author:Hare Rumpler

Welcome Sucker Punch fans!!!  Hare Rumpler here along with my pal Donkey “Dan” and we’re preparing for a weekend of fun with back to back cards in Los Angeles!  The first kicks off tomorrow evening as SPPS 191 gets the party going and then Sunday we’ll follow that up by rocking the Colliseum a second time for SPPS 192!

So what have we got ready to go for you folks?  Well, simply put…everything.  Yep…everything!  Well, ok, I lie.  Not everything.  If you are here just for the Light Heavyweights, you’ll be left wanting.  But we’ve got you covered on everything else from Featherweight to Lightweight to Welterweight…well, you get the idea!  And hopefully we’ll have you covered with all the cheap shot, low blow and kicks to the dingle dangles that your little heart desires!

One thing that all of our fighters and fans should be aware of is that we’re continuing to evolve as we figure out who we are in the unrestricted, unrestrained MMA space!  That means that we’re still trying to figure out what size promotion is right for us, which will allow us to carry and support as many fighters as possible while also hopefully at some point starting to actually be more consistent with income so we don’t run in the red quite so much.  What does all that mean?  It means we probably can’t continue to carry three cards in a single week and need to back down to at most two cards in the future…and that means stepping up the intensity and challenge to those who want to stay with us at SPPS rather than stepping down into one of the more entry level or mid-tier orgs.  We had been shooting for a P4P ranking of 2,000 or better, but it’s very much looking like 1,500 P4P is going to have to become the target going forward.

Now, with that said, no titles on the line this time out at SPPS 191.  But you get fights with just about as much on the line if not one step away!  Gulf and Matsuda will headline in the Main Event and the winner of that Middleweight showdown will be up for a shot at the belt as soon as the Kazuma/Garcia matchup is worked out on the 15th just a little over a week from now.  Before that, our Co-Main Event gives you an epic FIFTH and final fight in the Petsuwan Sitsongrit/Chulalongkorn saga, as Chula will attempt to even up the score somewhat in his last and final bout before retirement!  That series currently stands at 3-1 for Sitsongrit and a win tonight could put Sitsongrit just one more win away from returning to take on the strap owner for the title at Featherweight!

Even the events leading up to the Mains have some big stuff on the line as top tier Featherweights Idowu and Aalto face off to claim the next title shot in the division!  Idowu wants to earn his first opportunity here at SPPS and Aalto undoubtedly wants to show that the years where he was the champ and that caliber of fight still live inside!

The great action flows all the way down to the Undercard but we’ll save that for the in depth look coming up!  So let’s get a quick word from our merchandise partner and sponsor and get into each fight in more detail!
