Fight fans, it is fight week in the CFC! Don't forget to throw your bets down at the CFC Casino, available here: http://mmatycoon.com/bookmakerpublic.php?bid=7045

After more than 3.5 years of action in the Canadian Fighting Championship, the promotion forays into the brave new world of pay per views this weekend.  Boasting one of the most impressive cards top to bottom in the organization’s history, this proves to be a great event for CFC fans around the world. It hasn’t been easy. Some of the fights the promotion hoped to book didn’t come to fruition and some key fighters were not available due to injury and schedule issues.  But on Sunday, Owner Matt Mac is proud to present Untitled Project PPV.

The main event of the evening features one of the CFC’s recent marquee signings Michael Vronsky taking on Lazarus Jones who reportedly generously made his services available to be a part of this historic event. Vronsky is a truly elite grappler. He’s one of the top wrestlers in mixed martial arts today and has a strong jiu jitsu base. He’s cut from a similar mold of a Matt Hughes type fighter, a true ground and pound specialist with good enough boxing to generally keep him out of trouble. He’s never been stopped by strikes in his career. Facing him is Jones, another fighter with strong offensive and defensive wrestling skills. Jones undeniably has an edge on the feet where he’s had a lot of success. But if Vronsky can get him down and stay on top of him, there is a fight that could end poorly for Jones. Like so many MMA contests, this is one that will likely be dictated by who can determine where the fight is contested.

The co-main event features one of the CFC’s favoured sons and the 170 lbs champion, Antonio Montana. He’s been the welterweight champ since the start of 2012 and has been touring around the world in between title defences. Montana is a scary man. That may seem like a simple statement but it’s true. After starting his career at 155, he moved up in weight and seemed to really find his power. He’s never been stopped in 30 fights and has a diverse striking attack, with a preference towards using his hands. Xavier Sanchez is appearing in his second CFC bout and comes into the fight with a stellar resume. He can win fights on the feet and ground although he’s not likely to submit Montana. Sanchez will find himself at a bit of a power disadvantage as he has won a lower percentage of his fights via knockout. The champ is undeniably the favourite in the championship fight, but Sanchez is a live dog.

Anton Chigurh makes his CFC debut against the promotion’s heavyweight champion, Mike Hull.  Chigurh’s fight list is a veritable who’s who of the MMA Tycoon world with fights against legends like Bubba Killsinwater, Pale Moonlight, Fidel Puno and more. With 37 fights under his belt only 10 have went to decision and the fans are expecting a similarly exciting contest on Sunday. Hull won the CFC title in an upset just a few weeks ago and looks to expand his promotional record to 3-0 in another fight the bookies think he’s not likely to win. But what do those guys know? Hull’s a threat anyhow. He has spectacular muay thai and a black belt. He’ll have to hope his youthful exuberance and precision striking are enough to overcome Chigurh’s veteran savvy and power.

A pair of CFC lightweight neophytes debut against one another. Both are elite contenders and well known by knowledgeable MMA fans, though. Qing Kong looks to bring his intimidating mixture of striking talents to Joao Pequeno, an equally dangerous opponent with his hands and feet.  Pequeno has never been KO’d and has 17 KO wins to his credit. He’s won 6 of his last 7 fights across four different promotions. Kong is riding a four-fight win streak of his own and has comparative power. Few expect this one to go the distance but even fewer want to wager who will come out on top.

Rounding out the main card is a featherweight title bout, which really speaks to the depth and quality of this weekend’s show. This is the third fight between Roddy Piper and Johnny Quid who have split a pair of decisions this year. Piper won the last one, but you can’t count Quid out of any fight, he’s simply a crafty fighter who game plans well and always performs better than expected. Piper’s riding a three-fight win streak and looking to make his second successful title defence. Fans can expect to see one of those thrilling back and forth tilts the lighter weight class are known for when these two tangle.

Jason Krutcher came into the CFC with a title shot and ended up losing his first two in the promotion. But he recently bounced back and will look to even his CFC record against grappler extraordinaire and fight veteran Al Bundy. Every card has to have at least one class striker vs grappler and this one definitely fits the bill. Will Bundy be fatigued from fighting just a week ago?  Will Krutcher become just the third man to put Bundy to sleep?  We’ll find out Sunday.

Tony Mantegna has generally strong results in the CFC with a 6-2 record and every fight ending by knockout. He’s a guy who wants to keep it on the feet and there’s nothing unpredictable about him. But he’s so good at what he does that it doesn’t matter. His opponent Mauricio Hates Decisions is hoping to have a better experience than his one and only prior CFC appearance where he was KO’d. They’re two great fighters who would be co-headlining most cards, but because this is a pay per view, the CFC is pulling out all the stops for their fans.

Jon Mirasty is looking to continue his climb up the middleweight ranks with a victory on Sunday over Dominic Vera. Mirasty is a sprawl’n’brawler with good power and a solid chin. He poses a lot of challenges for another high profile CFC signee in Vera, who is an interesting fighter that has stopped a lot of fighters with a lot of different techniques. On paper it seems like Mirasty should be able to do his thing – stuff takedowns and swing away. But it’s never that easy and a vet like Mirasty knows that.

In early August Spartacus Thracian took the heavyweight title from Mandla Bangizwe with some savage ground and pound. He dropped the belt in his next fight and Bangizwe’s losing streak was extended to three fights and now they’re both looking to rebound. It’s a very interesting bout that pits a GNP specialist against an impressive muay thai artist who also possesses quality BJJ. Last time it was Thracian who was absolutely dominant on the ground. He’ll try to employ that same formula for success on Sunday.

The opening bout on the card is the Final of the CFC’s International Lightweight tournament. Brian Dawkins and Gaia Ky have both upended two opponents previously to land in this spot. Dawkins has a pair of CFC KO’s and Ky has two of his own, plus a couple Fight of the Night bonuses to boot. This is going to be a barn burner. Fans will want to make sure they’re in the doors right away to not miss this great contest.
