HERO 43: Vihtala vs Tedvik Preview

Event Preview: HERO 43: Vihtala vs Tedvik

Hello HERO fight fans. Bel Ciganen is a little busy tonight. Some say he's in jail. Others say he's holed up in a hotel room with a bottle of tequila and one of the HERO ring girls. Regardless, he won't be doing tonight's preview, so its up to me, AJ Nex, to fill in.

We have a fine selection of up and comers and grisly veterans doing battle on tonight's undercard. Let's take a look:

Undercard:

Featherweight Division: Mike Stillao (3-4) vs Mad Child (2-5-1)

Both of these warriors rarely fall before the end of a fight and usually find the judges scorecards. While it isn't impossible for one of these guys to score a knockout, my bet is that this one will go to decision.

Heavyweight Division: Warmonger Sion (3-3) vs Liang Guanglie (0-0)

Liang is making his professional debut against a veteran in Sion who is on his second stint in HERO. Sion will be trying for a submission, while Liang clearly wants a striking match.

Bantamweight Division: Bk bk (5-2) vs Dan Love (5-6)

Bk is a submission specialist, winning all five of his pro victories by tapout. However, Love is no slouch on the mat himself, holding a purple belt. Love has also shown the ability to win by TKO, so the man who dictates what happens will probably win.

Middleweight Division: Dave Iverson (3-5) vs Bjj Wrestler (4-3)

Iverson is a grinder who tries to win by decision, but has proven to be susceptible to submissions. Wrestler likes to go all out. Win or lose, all of his pro fights have ended in TKO.

Welterweight Division: Loki Lazerous (3-3) vs Chuck Vogelpohl (3-3)

Both of these 3-3 fighters are looking to improve above the .500 mark. Lazerous hopes to score a knockout, while Vogelpohl hopes his BJJ brings him victory.

Main Card

Heavyweight Division: Richard Burger (3-1) vs Nikolai Jegorowitsch Makarow (0-0)

Burger has shown versatility so far in his career, scoring wins by KO and submission. The latter will probably be his gameplan against Makarow. The rookie is rumored to be a very good boxer with very few ground skills.

Light Heavyweight Division: Dirk Damon (5-5) vs Jaarko Hahlund (6-5)

Damon is a clinch expert who hasn't been able to finish anyone yet, but can control the action and win decisions. Hahlund has knees and kicks of his own, so this could be a Muay Thai clinic.

Welterweight Division: Risto Pasila (6-4) vs Artem Bessmertin (3-1)

Two wrestlers with purple belts square off in this one. Pasila has better boxing, but Bessmertin has a Muay Thai edge. This matchup should all come down to strategy.

Co-Main Event - Heavyweight Division: Alan Fei Hong (6-2) vs Boyko Borisov (7-4)

Two former champs clash to determine which one edges closer to tasting the gold again. Every Borisov victory has come by KO from his boxing, while every Hong victory has been by TKO due to cuts. The game plan of each fighter will be well known and we call all be assured that this one will not go to decision.

Main Event - Light Heavyweight Division: Aleksi Vihtala (9-0) vs Gustav Tedvik (6-0)

Undefeated Hall of Famer Vihtala has eight straight stoppages by KO or TKO, but is facing his toughest challenge to date. Submission artist Tedvik is also undefeated, and showed versatility in his last fight, winning by TKO. Someone is losing their "0" in this clash between undefeated superstars.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm salivating just thinking about tonight's action. Its a shame that the fights aren't starting now. On a positive note, Bel Ciganen has been located at a Helsinki police station. I don't have all the details on his arrest, but I hear it involved a polar bear, a swimming pool full of Jello, and three members of the Finnish female hockey team.

Regardless, he will be back for HERO Movember Spectacular. Until then, happy training and enjoy the fights
