Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Terrance Smith!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aomi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Smith throws a shot from downtown. Aomi moves away and avoids it.
Aomi shoots in looking for a takedown but Smith manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Aomi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Aomi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Smith circles away quickly and effectively.
No luck for Aomi with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shaoki Aomi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Aomi tries to clinch but Smith is having none of it.
Aomi wants to clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Aomi is defended easily by Smith.
Aomi could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aomi tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Shaoki Aomi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Aomi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Aomi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Aomi tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Smith tries to bum rush Aomi with a series of wild strikes but Aomi uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Smith counters with a nice body shot.
Aomi swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Aomi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Aomi closes the distance but Smith moves to the side
and Smith cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Aomi tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Smith counters with a three punch combo that has Aomi backing up. Aomi nods at Smith to acknowledge the strikes.

Aomi is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smith catches Aomi with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Smith lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Aomi is rocked!
Smith jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Oh Aomi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Smith misses with a straight left.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smith looks to land a right hand but Aomi moved out of range.
Smith connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Aomi to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Smith!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Terrance Smith! Terrance Smith retains his featherweight title!
