The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yam jabs Cummins right on the nose. Cummins blinks but takes it well.

Cummins scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Cummins postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Yam to stand up.
Yam misses with the combination.
Cummins takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Donnie Yam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Cummins, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Yam throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Yam pushes Cummins away with a front kick.
Yam fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Cummins on the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cummins doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Yam stuns Cummins with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Cummins shoots in looking for a takedown. Yam tries to sprawl out of it but Cummins keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Yam manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Yam moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Yam lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Yam is trying to force a seperation but Cummins has the dominant position.

Cummins breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Cummins counters with a single leg into guard. Yam didn't expect that.
Yam is looking to stand up but Cummins isn't so interested in that idea.
Yam knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cummins on the ground.
Cummins looking to sit in guard and control but Yam gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Cummins counters with a nice double leg into side control. Yam won't be happy with that.
Cummins is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Yam will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Donnie Yam will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Cummins dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Yam. That did some damage!

Jackson feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Tapio sprawling to the canvas! Tapio rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Jackson finish him?!
