The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams with a jab.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Williams but Williams pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Williams is looking to clinch.

Diaz bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Diaz thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Diaz tries to advance to mount but can't.
Williams wants to get back to his feet but Diaz drags him back down.

Diaz is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Williams has escaped the position, nice work there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diaz is breathing heavily.
Williams pushes Diaz away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Diaz gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Williams really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Diaz is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Williams knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Williams is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Diaz scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Williams pushes Diaz off and gets back to his feet.
Williams throws a low kick but it's checked well by Diaz.
Williams slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Williams tries to close the distance and clinch up but Diaz swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Diaz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Williams moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Williams misses with a double jab.
Melvin Williams is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Diaz misses with a takedown attempt - Williams sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Williams closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Diaz wants to break the clinch but can't.
Diaz blocks the elbow strike.

Williams manages to break the clinch.
Williams will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Williams throws a good cross that connects.
Diaz misses with a right hand
and Williams counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Diaz swats away the attempt to clinch by Williams.
Williams is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Williams pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Diaz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Diaz showed some decent athleticism there.
Diaz passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Williams!

Diaz working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Williams turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Diaz off and cradles Williams's limp body as Diaz celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Juan Diaz!

Shougo takes the fight into the clinch.
N Awe can't break the clinch.
N Awe has had enough of the clinch but Shougo keeps him there for the moment.
N Awe is trying to break free.

N Awe escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
N Awe fails to land with a series of punches.
Shougo shoots for a takedown but N Awe saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
N Awe misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
N Awe drops Shougo with a left right combo! N Awe follows him down to the ground into side control.

Shougo is rocked!

It looks like Murata Shougo has been cut.
Shougo tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but N Awe presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Oh Shougo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
N Awe controlling the position easily from mount.
Shougo working to try and regain half guard.
Shougo seems to have got his legs back now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shougo tries to lock up and control but N Awe gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Shougo really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
N Awe looking to control but Shougo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Shougo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
N Awe looking to control and managing it successfully.
Shougo is trying desperately to improve position.
Shougo tries to lock up and control but N Awe gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Shougo tries to reverse the position but N Awe maintains control.

N Awe stands up from mount. Strange move.
Shougo is breathing heavily.
Shougo on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
N Awe circles away from the clinch attempt.
Shougo takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
N Awe darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
N Awe lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Shougo at a distance.
Shougo walks straight into a right hand from N Awe - that's dropped him! N Awe jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Shougo from any more punishment! Shougo complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Shock N Awe!
