The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Groves wants to clinch.
Groves moves out of range of the body kick.
Groves shoots in looking for a takedown. Martens tries to sprawl out of it but Groves keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Martens manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Martens doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Groves counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Martens is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Martens throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Groves tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

so Groves counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Martens pulls Groves in close to his closed guard and prevents Groves from doing any damage or advancing position.

Groves feints and then cracks Martens's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Martens down.

Groves gets in close and instigates a clinch.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lazarus Bloodfist.
Well Killer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
