The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wolf closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Damon shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sanders pinned against the cage. Sanders gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Damon closes the distance and clinches.

Damon gets caught flat footed, as Sanders shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Sanders is looking to stand up but Damon won't let him.
Sanders lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Damon wants to stand and escape but Sanders is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Damon tries to control but Sanders wriggling away.

Damon is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Sanders has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Sanders flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Sanders is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Damon trying to control but Sanders is having none of it.

Damon stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Sanders lands with a hook. Damon tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

It looks like Sean Damon has been cut.

Sanders tries to clinch but Damon moves out of range.

Sanders stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Damon.
Damon tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sanders swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sean Damon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sanders circles away from the clinch attempt.
Damon fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Damon shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Sanders holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Sanders wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Damon has him pressed against the cage.
Sanders cracks Damon with a nice body shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Sean Damon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sanders takes the fight into the clinch.

Damon fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Sanders digs a right hand into Damon's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Damon's gas tank.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sanders escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sanders lands a glancing blow to the side of Damon's head.
Sanders lands a body shot.

Sanders shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Damon's guard.

Damon had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Sanders is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Damon Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Sanders's back instead.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tully Ray Sanders will probably get the nod.

Sanders closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Damon lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Damon turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Damon manages to end up in side control.

Damon blocks the strikes from Sanders.

Damon goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Sanders rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Damon's guard! Nice work there by Sanders!

Sanders is looking to stand up but Damon won't let him.
Damon wants to sweep but no luck.
Sanders trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Damon is trying to control the position but Sanders postures up.
Sean Damon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Damon looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Sanders is sitting in close to Damon's body. Damon has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Sanders is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Sanders is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Damon.
