St Pierre throws a right and a left that Penn avoids nicely.

and St Pierre counters with a single leg into guard. Penn didn't expect that.

Penn has his foot on St Pierre's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. St Pierre works his way back into a safe position though.
St Pierre makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
St Pierre stands up over Penn, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

No joy there for Patty, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Nice combo by Patty! Oh, that's hurt him - Sanders falls to the canvas and Patty follows him into side control.

It looks like Dante Sanders has been cut.

Patty decides to stand back up.
Oh Sanders is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Patty misses with a few strikes there.
Sanders throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Oooh a lovely combination from Patty sends Sanders down but not out. Patty dives into side control looking to finish.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sanders is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Sanders is pressing down on Patty's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Patty must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Patty has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sanders is proving hard to escape from.

Sanders escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Patty gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Patty is squirming around, avoiding Sanders's attempts to control the action.

Sanders is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Patty is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Patty flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Sanders anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Patty and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Sanders slips an arm under Patty chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Sanders has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Sanders is squeezing on Patty like an anaconda would it's prey. Patty fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
