The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vera throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Margarito's waist but Margarito gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vera off to one side.
Vera shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Margarito lands a two punch combo.
Vera shoots in and drives through. Margarito sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brandon Vera. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Vera seems to have got his legs back now.
Vera is trying to escape the mount but Margarito keeps good control and instead manages to take Vera's back.

Margarito is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Vera has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

I really don't envy Vera right now.

Margarito is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Vera has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Margarito has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Vera taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Margarito doesn't care though - he's delighted!
