The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Takahari does no damage.
Takahari will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gracie throws a chopping leg kick but Takahari manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Stack fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kakarotto manages to avoid it.
Kakarotto ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Stack drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Stack trying to control the position from guard on top but Kakarotto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stack throws and elbow that misses. Kakarotto uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Stack's guard. Nice move by Kakarotto!
Stack has Kakarotto pulled in close to control his posture.
Stack is striking from the bottom but Kakarotto uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

Kakarotto has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Stack is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Kakarotto.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takanori Gomez!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez ducks under a wild hook from Austin.
Gomez throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Austin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Austin looks for a takedown but Gomez sprawls well.

Takanori Gomez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gomez moves out of range as Austin throws a body kick.
Austin takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Austin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Austin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Austin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Gomez is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Austin asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Austin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Gomez takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Gomez gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Gomez takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Gomez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Austin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gomez tries to reverse the position but Austin maintains control.

Austin has isolated one of Gomez's arms. Gomez looking to fight him off but Austin twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
