And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nathan Oliver!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Franklyn Lucas and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoos closes the distance and clinches up with Oliver, looking for a takedown. Hoos pushes Oliver against the cage but Oliver circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Oliver lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hoos backs up against the cage.
Oliver stuffs the takedown.
Hoos looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Oliver is fending him off so far but Hoos persists. Nope, Oliver circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fat Hoos. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fat Hoos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Oliver instigates a clinch.

Oliver escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hoos displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Oliver throws out the jab.
Hoos shoots in for a double leg but Oliver sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Oliver ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hoos moves away.

Oliver is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Oliver tries to break the clinch but Hoos is controlling the position.

Oliver looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Oliver connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hoos momentarily.

Hoos dodges the punch combination from Oliver.
Hoos avoids a punch combination nicely.
Oliver misses with a two punch combination.
Hoos throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Oliver's waist but Oliver gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hoos off to one side.
Oliver rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hoos moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Oliver wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Oliver lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Hoos fails with a takedown attempt.

Oliver drives through and clinches with Hoos against the cage.
Hoos tries to pull guard but Oliver holds him up against the cage and eventually Hoos drops back down to his feet.
Oliver can't break the clinch.

Oliver throws a nice looking combination but Hoos bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Oliver fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Oliver tries to close the distance and clinch but Hoos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hoos fails with a takedown attempt.
Oliver misses with a few strikes there.

Hoos darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Oliver is pressing down on Hoos's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Oliver is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Oliver is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Oliver is trying to control the position but Hoos postures up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Hoos fails with a takedown attempt.
Hoos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Oliver tries to avoid it but Hoos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Oliver to the ground. Oliver escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fat Hoos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hoos circles away from the clinch attempt.
A combination from Oliver does no damage.
Oliver tries to clinch up.
Oliver looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Hoos drives through with a takedown into guard.

Oliver manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Oliver has hold of Hoos's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hoos manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Oliver can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hoos is looking to escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Hoos keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hoos is working hard here to advance position.
A nice elbow there by Oliver.

Hoos is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

and Oliver makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
