The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
the Luchador shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Welsh but Welsh pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Base (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Machine Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machine Man told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Man closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Man lands in his opponent's guard.
Man pushing down on Base's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Man works his foot free and advances to mount.
Base keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Man looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Man takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Man looks gassed!
Man is trying to stick to Base's back but Base is turning into Man. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Man's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Base.

Base stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Man swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Man lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Base!

Man moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Base has worked his arm free - good work by Base!
Base pushes Man away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Man gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Base is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Man's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Man is looking for a kimura but Base is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Man to get the leverage.

Base is controlling an arm, preventing Man from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Man is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Base can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Machine Man dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Man doesn't manage to clinch there - Base circles away.
Base throws a nice looking combination but Man bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Man shoots in looking for a takedown. Base tries to sprawl out of it but Man keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Base manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Base moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Man is rocked!
Base dances in with a quick combination. Man is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Base snaps Man's head back. Man stumbles backwards against the cage. Base steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Man's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Man just didn't come prepared.

That was a close second round but I would say that Fist Maloy will probably get the nod.

Tootin slips an arm under McGruder chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Tootin has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Tootin is squeezing on McGruder like an anaconda would it's prey. McGruder fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
