The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferris throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pete's waist but Pete gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ferris off to one side.
Brutus Ferris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pete fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ferris sprawls well initially but Pete persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ferris is trying to get back to full guard.
Pete drops an elbow to the side of Ferris's head.
Pete wants to pass to mount but Ferris is defending the position.
Pete is keen to just control but Ferris is a slippery customer.
Ferris wants to improve his position but Pete is controlling well.
Ferris punching from the bottom.
Pete wants to pass to mount but Ferris is defending the position.
Pete is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Pete looking to control but Ferris is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Pete is landing with some decent strikes but Ferris is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Pete controlling the pace for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ferris is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ferris can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ferris is in all sorts of trouble here.
Pete could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
A nice elbow there by Pete.
Pete moves to the back position.

Ferris is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Pete gets his way!

Pete working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Ferris is doing well to defend. Pete seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Ferris is forced to tap and this one is over!
