The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lao tries to clinch there but Lewis circles away.
Lewis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lao showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lewis.
Lao tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lewis swivels and escapes.
Daniel Lewis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lewis misses with a double jab.
Lewis throws a nice looking combination but Lao bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lewis swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Lewis lands a hook that stumbles Lao back into the cage. Lewis follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Lao to the canvas! Lewis pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Lao has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!

Smith waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Cabrera.
Cabrera misses with a two punch combination.
Cabrera closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Cabrera pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cabrera throws a combination. Smith tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Horrible takedown by Cabrera or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith which made him look bad.
Cabrera shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense.

Cabrera drops back, looking for a kneebar! Smith looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Smith looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Smith!

Cabrera is wriggling around trying to escape.
Smith can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cabrera is looking to escape.

Smith looking to control and managing it successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cabrera is wriggling around trying to escape.
Smith trying to control but Cabrera is having none of it.
Cabrera is looking to improve his position but Smith isn't that keen on the idea.
Cabrera bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Cabrera will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Cabrera has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smith can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That was a close second round but I would say that Hector Cabrera will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Cabrera escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Cabrera had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Smith is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Cabrera Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Smith's back instead.
Smith is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Cabrera thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Smith is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Cabrera gets his way!

Cabrera won't let Smith get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Cabrera is working for a guillotine from mount but Smith frees his head quite easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That's time! Cabrera's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Smith misses with a double jab

and Cabrera counters with a shoot takedown. Smith fights it but they end up in guard.

Cabrera postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Smith is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cabrera, into his guard.
Cabrera lands a decent punch to the body there.

Cabrera working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smith doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smith manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Cabrera lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Smith!

Smith is trying to stand up.
Smith is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell?

Cabrera goes for an armbar but Smith turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Smith.

Cabrera escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cabrera is on top in guard.
Jose Smith has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Cabrera postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Cabrera looking to pass the guard.

Cabrera passes Smith's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Smith makes his way to full guard, as Cabrera worked for a kimura.
Cabrera stands up over Smith, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Cabrera throws and elbow that misses. Smith uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cabrera's guard. Nice move by Smith!
Cabrera wants to hit a switch here but Smith passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Cabrera there!
Cabrera tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Smith trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Cabrera is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cabrera, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
