With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Avon Barksdale!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Homes drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Homes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Homes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Homes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Homes won't allow Barksdale to get back to his feet.
Barksdale really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Homes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Homes wants to pass the guard but Barksdale is keeping the position.
Barksdale wants to stand but Homes is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barksdale wants to get back to his feet but Homes passes into half guard.
Barksdale tries to kick Homes off but Homes keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd seem to be enjoying Batra's choice of entrance music: Slagsmålsklubben - Sponsored by destiny. Mads Batra told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Martin turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Martin manages to end up in side control.
