The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reich scores with a shot to the body.
Niska shoots for a double leg takedown but Reich sprawls well. He's pushed Niska's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Reich keeps the fight on the outside.
Niska takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Niska fails to land the takedown.

Reich shoots in and bounces Niska off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Niska wants to stand up but Reich is controlling him.
Niska trying to keep a closed guard but Reich is proving a slippery customer.

Reich postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Niska is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Reich, into his guard.

Reich wants to get back to full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Reich is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Niska off and has taken his back!
Niska surviving as best he can, preventing damage.

Niska is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Reich gets his way!

Reich has got his arm under Niska's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Niska has spun round into Reich's guard beautifully! Well done that man!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Reich had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Niska is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Reich Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Niska's back instead.

Reich is looking for a choke. Niska gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Niska manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Niska advances to half guard.
Reich is not content to let Niska control the position.
Reich is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wilhelm Reich showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Reich lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Reich counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Reich throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Niska takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Reich looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Reich moves nicely into side control.
Niska is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Reich has hold of Niska's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Niska tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Reich cranks the arm and Niska screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Niska, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Biggum thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Drake has his foot on Biggum's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Biggum works his way back into a safe position though.

Drake looking for subs off his back but Biggum has passed one foot through into half guard.
Biggum is taking a breather. Drake says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Drake is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Biggum looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Drake with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Biggum is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

I really don't envy Drake right now.

Drake had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Biggum is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Drake Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Biggum's back instead.
Biggum is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Drake is working for a rear naked choke. Biggum is not defending it well and Drake has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Biggum refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Biggum's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
