The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Manchester looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Manchester throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Zin's waist but Zin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Manchester off to one side.

Sakuraba drives through with a takedown into guard.

Sakuraba is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Acula is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Acula has escaped and now he's on top!

Sakuraba escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Acula gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Acula trying to control the position from guard on top but Sakuraba is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Acula is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Sakuraba can't keep his opponent in guard - Acula advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Acula tries to stand but can't do so whilst Sakuraba controls his leg.
Sakuraba slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Acula will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Sakuraba has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Acula can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Acula won't allow Sakuraba to sweep him here.
Sakuraba bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Acula's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Acula wants to stand but Sakuraba is controlling his arm.

Acula knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sakuraba on the ground.

Aoki blocks a leg kick.
Aoki misses with a takedown attempt - Verdek sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Verdek tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Aoki paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Verdek tries for a takedown but Aoki sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Aoki closes the distance but Verdek moves to the side

and Verdek counters by moving into the clinch.
Aoki tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Verdek just stands there and leans against the ropes.
Aoki is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.
Aoki jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Verdek walks away with a smile on his face. Aoki gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

and Verdek counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Aoki's guard now.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Aoki had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Verdek is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Aoki Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Verdek's back instead.

Aoki is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Verdek. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Verdek drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Verdek as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Aoki screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Verdek! Nice submission victory there!
