The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Hiner looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hiner misses with a head kick.

Hiner feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Martindale manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Hammersmash fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Stevens.
Hammersmash misses with a body kick.

Stevens tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hammersmash paws at him with a jab and circles away.

A head kick lands from Hammersmash that sends Stevens to the canvas. Stevens tries to scramble back to his feet but Hammersmash brings him back down into side control.

It looks like Helo Stevens has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Stevens manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hammersmash's best efforts.

Hammersmash is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Stevens defends it well.
Stevens moves into full guard.
Stevens doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Hammersmash is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Stevens wants to stand up but Hammersmash is controlling him.
