The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Subat thuds his shin into the meat of de Souza's side.

The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Sosuke Kotani and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Miyagi swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Miyagi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Miyagi frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Jones is wriggling around trying to escape.
Jones tries to lock up and control but Miyagi gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Miyagi connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Jones is in all sorts of trouble here.

Jones is squirming around, avoiding Miyagi's attempts to control the action.
Jones can't escape the position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Miyagi is working for a guillotine from mount but Jones frees his head quite easily.
Miyagi can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jones is looking to escape.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Miyagi has hold of Jones's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jones manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Miyagi is going olschool here, as he tries to force Jones to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Jones shrugs it off.
Jones is squirming around, avoiding Miyagi's attempts to control the action.
Miyagi is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jones is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Jones tries to reverse the position but Miyagi maintains control.
Miyagi wants to control the pace but Jones is squirming around nicely.

Miyagi goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Jones turns into him and now he's in Miyagi's guard.
Miyagi keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hiro Miyagi dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Jones gets caught flat footed, as Miyagi shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Miyagi advances position into side control!
Miyagi is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jones is trying to improve his position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jones can't do much from the bottom here.
Jones tries to buck Miyagi off but Miyagi is having none of it.
Jones is breathing heavily.

Miyagi has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Jones is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Miyagi yanks on the arm and Jones is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Miyagi.
