The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daizaemon throws a hook but Minard blocks it.
Daizaemon lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Minard circles away quickly and effectively.
Daizaemon misses with a jab, cross combination.

Minard has taken the fight to the clinch.
Minard lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

It looks like Kaze Daizaemon has been cut.
Daizaemon wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Minard has him pressed against the ropes.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Minard takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Minard is trying to trip Daizaemon. He has hold of a leg but Daizaemon is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Minard persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Minard wants to control from the top but Daizaemon keeps moving.
Daizaemon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Minard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Minard is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Daizaemon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Daizaemon is working to avoid the ground and pound but Minard connects with a decent elbow.
Minard has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Daizaemon parries the strikes from Minard easily there. Minard is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Daizaemon to escape.
Daizaemon is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Minard is controlling him well.

Minard has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Daizaemon is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Minard yanks on the arm and Daizaemon is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Minard.
