The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Plant shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Russel but Russel pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Plant tries to score a power double leg takedown but Russel sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Plant somewhat.
Russel lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

It looks like Marcus Plant has been cut.
Russel keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bertrand Russel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Plant.
Plant looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Plant misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Russel feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Plant sprawling to the canvas! Plant rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Russel finish him?!

Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Russel screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Silva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
