The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wennstrom lands a left and a right that send Liddell crashing to the mat, dazed. Wennstrom thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Chuckie Liddell has been cut.
Liddell slips under a jab.
Wennstrom throws a series of punches but Liddell moves out of range.
Liddell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Wennstrom lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Liddell falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!

Cartmen stuffs the takedown attempt from Perry. Perry gets slowly back to his feet.
Cartmen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

and Perry counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cartmen's guard now.

Cartmen is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Perry pushes down on Cartmen's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Cartmen is staying active underneath Perry, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Cartmen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Perry on the ground.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Perry has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Cartmen is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Perry yanks on the arm and Cartmen is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Perry.

Machine tries to lock up and control but Hawk gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Hawk is going olschool here, as he tries to force Machine to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Machine shrugs it off.

Hawk is landing with some decent strikes but Machine is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Machine is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Machine seems to have got his legs back now.
Hawk loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Machine scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Hawk land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Hawk stands and salutes the crowd.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rei shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Rei was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Rei is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Thompson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Thompson bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Thompson throws and elbow that misses. Rei uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Thompson's guard. Nice move by Rei!

Rei got a little sloppy there for a moment and Thompson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rei has managed to get both his arms back between Thompson's legs - danger averted.

Thompson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rei can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Rei really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thompson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
cage throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
cage avoids the body shot from Can.

cage throws a leg kick but Can sees it coming and moves out of range.
Can shoots for a double leg takedown but cage sprawls well. He's pushed Can's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Can with a nice cross.
Can thuds his right hand into cage's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Can connects with a body shot.
A telegraphed right hand from Can misses the target.

Can shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

It looks like Tomato Can has been cut.
Can will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Can moves forwards but cage connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Can tries to score with some ground and pound. cage controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Can in side control, throwing shots but cage defends.
cage is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Can has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
cage takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Can trying to control the position but cage is working away.
Can is trying to ground and pound but cage uses the momentary lack of control by Can to regain half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Can throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

cage avoids a punch combination nicely.
Can throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
cage scores with a nice right hand.
cage closes the distance and lands a one-two.
cage connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Can lands the left hand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Can gets cracked there but stands up to it.

and cage counters with a good low kick that Can was not able to check.

cage scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Can doesn't seem bothered though.
Y cage is winning the standup battle so far.
cage lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
cage throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Can on the side of the head.
cage is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

That has opened up Tomato Can's cut even more.
Can is breathing heavily.
cage swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
cage scores with the left hand. Can knows he should have avoided that one.
This has been an exciting period of action!
cage scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Can ducks down and throws a hook to the body but cage moves away.

cage scores with a shot to the body.
cage lands a jab.
Can has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Can there as he acknowledges the shot.
cage fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Can.
Can looks to score with a jab to the body but cage is just out of range.
cage throws a combination that misses
and Can counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Y cage is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Can takes a swing at cage's ribcage but misses.
cage misses with a few strikes there.
cage jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Can throws a shot to the body.
Can tries to move into range but cage moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Can takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Can has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from cage finds it's way round the side to connect with Can's head.
cage tries to bum rush Can with a series of wild strikes but Can uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and cage counters with a nice uppercut.

Can has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
