That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Wood stuffs the takedown.
P I throws a looping overhand right but Wood ducks down to avoid it.
P I looks to score with a jab to the body but Wood is just out of range.
Wood looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Wood throws a leg kick which misses P I's front leg but catches the back leg as P I tries to avoid it.
Horrible takedown by P I or perhaps it was just good defense by Wood which made him look bad.

and P I counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wood won't be happy with that.
P I throws a strike aimed at the side of Wood's head but Wood avoids it well.
P I working the body and head with strikes.
Wood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with P I. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wood takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

P I swings around for an armbar but Wood sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into P I's guard.

P I is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
P I not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nice strikes from P I there.
Wood is looking for a sweep. P I is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
P I seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Wood desperately trying to maintain half guard.
P I looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Wood is looking to improve his position.
P I uses his free foot to push down on Wood's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Wood.

P I throws some wild stikes that Wood manages to avoid easily.
P I pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

P I lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Wood hang on?

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, P I cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

P I goes for an armbar but Wood turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Wood.
Wood pushing down on P I's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
P I manages to get to full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
P I looking for a sweep. Not yet P I, not yet.

Wood misses with an uppercut. P I saw that one coming.
Wood tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but P I was well out of range. Poor timing from Wood.

and Wood counters with a thumping low kick.
P I avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

P I changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wood looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

P I shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

P I tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Wood smiles and moves away.

and Wood counters with a good low kick that P I was not able to check.

Wood is pushing P I up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Wood is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. P I is defending well for now.

P I has Wood pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. P I pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Wood tumbling to the mat - P I dives into Wood's guard.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
