And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Drake Retso!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fulton lands a jab to the nose.
Retso misses with a body shot.
Retso shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fulton pinned against the cage. Fulton gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Fulton misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A punch combination from Retso misses.

Fulton gets caught flat footed, as Retso shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Fulton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Fulton wants to work for an arm triangle but Retso is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Fulton wants to control but Retso is keeping him busy.
Fulton is thwarting Retso's attempts to control the position.
Retso tries to roll over but Fulton keeps him under control.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Retso is on top in guard.
Retso throws and elbow that misses. Fulton uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Retso's guard. Nice move by Fulton!
Retso wants to sweep here but Fulton controlling him for the moment.

Retso throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Fulton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Retso swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Retso throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Fulton throws a nice looking combination but Retso bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Fulton throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

It looks like Drake Retso has been cut.
Retso fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Fulton.
Fulton lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Retso circles away quickly and effectively.

Fulton gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Retso works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Fulton is trying to control but can't.
Retso looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fulton with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Retso thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Fulton's head.
Retso throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Retso is looking to work some ground and pound but Fulton has wrist control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Fulton looking for a guillotine here but Retso defends easily.

Retso is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Fulton is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Fulton has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Fulton looking to sit in guard and control but Retso gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Drake Retso will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Retso shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Retso slips a straight right by Fulton.
Fulton misses with a straight right.
Retso swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Fulton.
Fulton fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Retso manages to avoid it.
Fulton falls off balance throwing a combination
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Retso shoots in for a takedown but Fulton shows good takedown defense.
Retso shoots for a takedown but Fulton saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Fulton misses with the combination.
Tra Fulton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fulton misses with a two punch combination.

Retso feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fulton wants to sweep but no luck.

Retso is working Fulton over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Retso lands a couple of digs.
Retso chips away with some ground and pound.
Retso pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fulton is keeping the position for now.

Retso stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Fulton throws up his legs and catches Retso in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Retso tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Fulton! That came out of nowhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Tra Fulton!
