Caldeira has chosen Paralyzer as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Griffen gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Caldeira stands and steps away. Griffen gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Griffen misses with a takedown attempt

and Caldeira decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Griffen's guard.

Griffen has an active guard here but Caldeira has managed to pass into half guard.
Griffen scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Caldeira manages to mount him!
Caldeira takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Griffen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gideon Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis comes into the arena with "Korn" Liar blaring out of the sound system. Gideon Kent told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Kent throws a right and a left that Davis avoids nicely.

Kent cracks Davis with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Davis looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Kent finish him?

It looks like Jonathan Davis has been cut.
A big right from Kent misses.
Davis looks to land a combination but Kent avoids it well.
Kent swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Davis counters with a series of strikes. Kent will be more careful next time no doubt.

and Davis counters with a one-two to the body.
Kent looks to land a left hand but Davis moved out of range nicely.
Davis keeps the fight on the outside.
Kent throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kent has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Gideon Kent seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kent throws a nice looking combination but Davis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Kent lands a big right hand that sends Davis crashing to the mat! Kent stays standing though and waves Davis back to his feet!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Kent has cracked Davis with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Kent lands another huge swinging hook and Davis tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Davis, before Kent can land any more shots!

No joy there for Thyme, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wiley throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Look low, kick high! Wiley uses the oldest trick in the book to send Thyme tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Wiley is absolutely delighted - when Thyme wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!

Loucks changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Williams looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Loucks tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Loucks has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Loucks working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Williams knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Loucks on the ground.

That was a close round but I would say that Wayne Williams will probably get the nod.

Stone is trying to stick to Welch's back but Welch is turning into Stone. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Stone's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Welch.

Stone has his feet on Welch's thighs here. He's pushed Welch off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Welch screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Kalir shoots in looking for a takedown. Romero tries to sprawl out of it but Kalir keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Romero manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Donk. Romero catches Kalir right on the button with a cross.
Romero changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kalir tries to avoid it but Romero manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kalir to the ground. Kalir escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Romero throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kalir sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Romero lands a really nice looking cross but Kalir seems unphased.
Romero fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Romero swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Romero's corner calls for a 1-2. Romero obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Kalir seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Romero shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Kalir is backing up but Romero catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Kalir covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Romero Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pedro Romero!
