Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brus Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Sabu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Li comes to the cage accompanied by Knockin' on heaven's door. Sabu is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Everything Ends. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Li shoots for a double leg takedown but Sabu sprawls well. He's pushed Li's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sabu looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Li breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Li closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sabu to the mat! Sabu manages to get full guard.

Li is looking to take a break and control but Sabu is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Li is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sabu sees it coming and defends easily.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Li connects with a nice short shot to Sabu's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sabu can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

and Li counters with a head kick.
Brus Li has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey Sabu.
Li throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sabu's waist but Sabu gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Li off to one side.
