enabling Pulver to counter with a crisp jab.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griggs circles away from the clinch attempt.
Griggs jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Griggs changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Griggs shoots in looking for a takedown. Sanchez tries to sprawl out of it but Griggs keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sanchez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Griggs decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Griggs is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Sanchez is looking for a sweep. Griggs is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Steel throws a combination that misses
and Howe counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A left lands for Steel.

It looks like Tim Howe has been cut.
Steel will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Howe misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Howe doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Steel counters with an inside leg kick.
Howe uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Steel.
Steel wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Howe looks to land a combination. Steel sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Steel throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Howe stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Steel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Howe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Steel has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Howe wants to improve his position but Steel is controlling well.
Steel is pressing down on Howe's thigh, looking to free his foot. Howe is holding on for now.
Steel moves nicely into side control.
Steel advances to mount.

Steel smells blood and goes for the finish - the referee warns Howe to improve his position but he's not intelligently defending himself and the referee has no choice but to step in and end the fight! Steel jumps to his feet and celebrates the important win with his cornermen!
