With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Houses!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

NoMates throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Houses was covering up waiting for the punch and NoMates finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
NoMates pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Houses is keeping the position for now.
Houses trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Houses has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Houses is trying to control the position from the bottom.

NoMates is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Houses looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but NoMates puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Houses wants to control but NoMates is keeping busy.

Houses misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Houses is looking for a sweep. NoMates is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. NoMates connects with a nice short shot to Houses's temple.
Houses is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Houses is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute NoMates jumps into side control!
NoMates creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Houses sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

NoMates is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Houses knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

NoMates swings around for an armbar but Houses sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into NoMates's guard.

Houses gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
NoMates is breathing heavily.

Houses tries to close the distance and clinch up but NoMates swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nice takedown defense from NoMates. No joy for Houses on that attempt.

and Houses holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Houses is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Houses lands a hook to the side of the head.
Houses tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Billy NoMates has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Houses.

NoMates breaks the clinch.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

I think Samura might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Limp Bizkit-Rollin . Daniel Franks has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jigoro Samura's chin.

Samura throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
A slapping body kick lands there for Samura.
Franks takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Manuel throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Terry escapes and throws Manuel's legs to the side, diving into side control!
